That made things worse, wjhen ever I click on one of my characters to play The game will state "not responding" in the task manager. I'll try installing GW - EOTN and see if that fixes the issue

You didn't do it right, because it takes hours to reinstall the .dat file

the -image tag forces GW to redownload anything that's missing in one go. combined with deleting the GW.dat file (you did do that before hand, right?), it force GW to redownload EVERYTHING. this process, depending on your internet connection, can take hours. what you'll gain however, is a clean, full GW.dat.

C:\Program Files\Guild Wars>Gw.dat -image
'Gw.dat' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

this is after deleteing the .dat file

How ever that does open up 11+k files to download when i type in gw.exe -image

It doesn't open up the files, it downloads them from the server. You can also just log into the game and it will download in the background. But every time you zone it'll have to download and decompress loads of files.

The command you need to run in command line is:
Code:
C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe -image

And how do you know it won't? What have you done to make it not work?

Log into the game and let it download that way. Try the above method first though.

according to my research, the aspire one uses intel 945GSE, with integrated GMA 950 graphics. from experience, it is not one of the IGPs that would crash in certain areas of of nightfall and EotN.

just as a test, can you get into rata sum or wehhan terraces? if it crashes in those areas, turn your shader quality to "low". if that STILL doesn't work, check my intel GMA guide in the hardware section of these forums.

i have the 945 version. and i havent made it that far.
even with the graphics in the game turned down to low (like all the way) It still crashes.
can you link me to this research so i can compare my driver and see what issues I am having?

945GSE is the chipset model, which always use GMA 950 for graphics. it's a bit confusing, since the numbers are similar.

anyways, here's the link:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10323347

the fix applies to GMA 950 also, as confirmed by one of the people in that thread.

For what it's worth, I use "gw.exe -noshaders" on my Toshiba laptop with Intel graphics. Running with the -noshaders switch solved my crashing problems.
