When you are in an outpost you see other people's armors at a lower res regardless of your graphics setting. This was done to prevent slower computers from lagging, although in this day and age one wonders why it isn't just an option as computers are much more powerful now.

There is a mod called KSMod I believe, available through these forums, that fixes this and isn't a bannable GW modification. Although if I remember correctly, it comes with UT sounds that you need to disable in its configuration file. Very easy to install/remove as its just a .dll and an .ini.

The bottom post of page 10 of the KSMod thread in Community Works has a working link to it:

I think its long overdue that we get a toggle in options to enable the high resolution armor textures. I personally call it standard resolution because it appears that the blurry textures are simply a highly compressed version of the high res texture.

I have what most would consider an old gfx card an Nvidia 7950. This is approx 4 generations old. I have installed the KSMod and it has little to no impact on my FPS.

Hardware has come a very long way since GW first came out 4 years ago.

** Anet please code in a toggle for this so we don't have to continue using KSMod **
