I start up my Guild Wars, and click "Play Guildwars", and when the small box comes up and says "Connecting to ArenaNet" (0%) it just sits there and doesn't budge! Whats wrong!!!

EX:

PS: I have GW:EOTN in my disc tray right now, and i'm on a laptop running windows vista if that has anything to do with it.
PS#2: I DO have NetGear, but I even tried running off a different network and it continues to have the same problem!

It is not a problem on your end.

p.s. Log into a different character. Seems to have worked for me. I'm still unable to log into my ranger.

Unable to log into my warrior after an Err7 when zoning into Sifhalla. To others, it appears that I am still online. Kinda sucks, but I'll give it a while and try again later.

Possibly unrelated, but a lot of people seem to have lost their guild tags.

Hmm yeah, but I don't think you guys understand. I cannot even boot up my Guild Wars because usually it loads to 100% really quickly while connecting to ArenaNet, but it just sticks at 0% and won't budge. I can't even get to the main screen at all it just won't even start up.

Is your firewall blocking it? Do you have a version of guild wars other than Eye of the North?

I have almost every single expansion downloaded on here. EOTN, Prof, Nightfall. =\ I don't think my firewall is blocking it? How would i check?

ANSWER: I had the exact some problem twice, all I did was a system restore to yesterday, fixed. Out of 3 years of playing it happened twice.

The same problem here. I didnot connect for 2 months, and now nothing.
When I try to "tracert" the server IP, it goes to nowhare.
It looks as if ANET closed some servers and the one my character is on, is on one of them.
Do you know how to tell GW.exe to connect to a specific server ?

If you have Peer Guardian, turn it off.

See if your router/ISP is blocking their IP.

I can get to GW main screen, but when i type in my pass it just says connecting and it wont go any further.

This problem was happening with a friend he turned his windows firewall off and it fixed it.
