300watt power supply

Because i`m having problems running it without really low fps like 20 and if i play around with the display settings it doesn`t help much. it is an old system i know but is there anything worth upgrading?

Are you running with the graphics bar all the way down?

My machine lacks a dedicated GPU, has only 1 gig of ram, and an old Athlon 64 x2 processor and it runs decently with the graphics on low. From what I read of your stats, yours should run far better than mine.

try turning off the vertical sync and post process effects under graphics in the options menu in guild wars and see if thatll make it better. one or both of those are checked when its installed and without them youll get better fps

Whats weird is it doesnt matter how high or low i move the slider the fps always stays around 15 to 30. Have tried different combos with the tick boxes too.

Install the latest ATI drivers for your system. I had almost that exact same system years ago, same video card, 1GB memory, and had way higher FPS than that. Your memory timings are pretty high too, 4's instead of 2's, which means your memory bandwidth is close to half of what it could be. That could be your issue as well. However, unless you really know what you are doing in a BIOS, you wont be able to fix your memory timing issue yourself.

Your timings are 4-7-5-6 and if I remember correctly, any decent DDR400 memory could achieve 2-2-2-5 quite easily. There would be a pretty big (noticeable) performance difference between them I'd say.

do you have a lot of processes running in the background? That might slow things down as well. There is a free utility called 'end it all' that helps you close down all processes that are not necessary. You can Google it and download it. It might help to run it before you start GW.

I got the older catalyst driver because i read somewhere that its better to get the driver version near to when your card was released, tried both versions still same issue.

The memory timings thing looks interesting will do some research thanks.

Judging by how they are listed in the video section, i would think it's safe to say the timings are the video memory timings, not the system ram timings.

Yes, disregard my memory timings speech. Those are for your GPU and shouldn't be touched.

Given what you say, it sounds as if you may have some sort of 'global' slowdown happening.
-Something could be set wrong in the BIOS, so that the system is running slower than it should. You could reset the BIOS to see if that helps - the computer and/or motherboard manual should tell you how to do this.
-One or more cooling fans - particularly on the cpu or graphics card - may not be running and the cpu or gpu is going into a thermal slowdown mode.
-You could have settings on the video card, such as 4xAA, that are overriding the in-game settings. Run the ATI graphics app and make sure that there aren't any settings that are "fixed" or set to ignore game settings.
