Yea, it works perfectly. Running W7 and GW on a 3yo laptop. Changing to W7 gave me an extra 30 fps in fullscreen as well o.O

From what ive heard, Windows 7 is turning out to be pretty awesome (even compared with XP, as Vista... =\ )

So I would guess it would run even better?

I honestly doubt It would offer much of a change, probably around the same as Windows Vista. Thats what I have found. But it ran good as always. Those extra 30 fps gained seem a little substantial for a operating system change, likely a updated driver he installed in the process.

I can never understand why anyone would want to make a test build their primary operating system, no matter how stable it is. It's just common sense.

I've found that the test builds of Windows 7 have been far more stable with my system and Vista and even XP.

As said above, Guild Wars will run absolutely fine, if you do run into a, "Can't access the data archive" message, just right click your Icon and Run as Administrator, which seems to have solved the problem for me.

Nope, none of the drivers have been updated from Vista. Always make sure they're updated. GW did run worse in Window than on Vista though. At least when it was in Beta, have only run it in fullscreen since I got RC1

That is the case with most of us. Everything but my video card drivers are built for Windows 7. Its pretty much a Windows Vista "Second Edition"

Should be a service pack imo.

Naah, they're better off releasing it as a new OS. No matter how many SP's the release for Vista, people will always call it shit, because it started out as shit. It's not that bad anymore, but people who haven't tried it, will still think so, and therefore not buy it, just because a new SP has been released

You have a valid point. Its all about restoring microsoft's image, by "rebranding Windows Vista." As that's the reason, Windows 7 is being rushed to production.
Certainly looks promising. Though, I wish they took the time to fix Windows Vista, Id just hate to spend 150$ on all my PC's to wipe them of vista.

Heh, yea. Vista has gotten better, but still nowhere near as good as it was supposed to be. And I'm actually pretty surprised that, while being rushed, W7 looks and feels as good as it does. Looking forward to getting the full version instead of just RC1^^

Wouldn't it be nice if there was one, fixed price upgrade package that upgraded your Vista install to the equivalent W7 version. I was one of the suckers that bought the totally unneccessary Vista Ultimate package - I want W7 Ultimate by way of compensation.

RTM != RTW.

RTM = Release To Manufacturing, which is not retail, which would be a RTW (Release To World) release.

Well, it works very good on Windows 7, but it doesn't offer nicer graphics. GW doesn't support DirectX 10, so it uses none of it's effects. You might, however, loose 5-7 FPS if your PC is slow.

RTM is another term for going "gold." The final version given ahead of time to manufacturers.

Almost always, unless a major flaw happens to be about, the same on retail. Vista's RTM [build 6000] was the final build released on retail. It happened to be about 4 months ahead of General Availability.

It's a way to get companies a head start in Hardware and software development, before general availability.

I presently have Win7 and I play GW on it all the time. I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever.
