Unhappy Annoying freezes!

For about 3 weeks now I've been having these annoying freezes... Every 2-5min my gw freezes for 2-10sec and not due to high ping (I can only move my mouse).I must emphasise that gw was running fine for 2 years and suddenly this appeared. I tried everything I could remember and I'm running out of ideas.
First i cleaned the box so its dust free in case there was some overheating because of it, next i shout down all background programs (anti virus and such) and turned off lot of windows unnecessary services...Nothing changed...I tried formatting disk and reinstalling windows and run gw on clean install in case there was some virus slowing my computer.. Next i reinstalled gw and downloaded everything again...and finally i changed my drivers (got newer ones)
None of these things helped.
I don't know if this matters but i noticed when i run gw in window mode and put up task manager to see active applications and i get a longer freeze (8-10sec) it says gw is not responding and CPU stops to work (gets back on 1% or so), and after freeze is over CPU comes back up again on 50% or so. But that only happens if its a longer freeze, not if its 2-5sec.
For those who missed the part gw was running fine before, I'm gonna put my configuration here (so i don't get questions like 'is your computer strong enough', and, 'what did u set your details on')
Gigabyte 945TL-S3
Intel pentium D-CPU 2.6
1.5gb ddr2 RAM (667)
Gforce 9800gtx+ 512mb (bought it about 6 months ago)
LC power 550W

If anyone has a clue what could be the problem please help, this is realy frustrating!

First thing that pops into my mind is your CPU overheating.
You should get some software to monitor your CPU temperature and check if it's not overheating.
(Can't really help you out more, on my psp ^_-;

Going on the fact that GW has ran fine for 2 years and this is a recent thing.

I'm going to ask, did you install any new software recently, or did windows run any updates of any description.

I did check temperature and its around 58oC when game is running. And as for new software....yes i did have something but i tried running gw when i erased them and still nothing. Have in mind that i ran gw on clean windows install, so some bad software is not my best guess, but thank you though...

I've been having what sounds like the exact same thing. I used to play Guild Wars a couple of years ago, and it played absolutely fine. I reinstalled recently, on a new computer, and have been getting these kind of freezes every so often right from a fresh install. I don't have problems with any other games I play, many of which are newer and have higher graphic specs.

System has an AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core 2.20Ghz processor, 3Gb RAM and a Geforce 8600 GT card, if that's any use.

I get the same thing, but it's caused by an incompatibility of Vista with my Nvidia drivers. I have a GeForce 8600 GTS, and it used to freeze my whole computer, but the last driver update changed it to just freezing the game for a few seconds while the display driver recovers.

There is absolutely no fix for this unless you buy a new graphics card that isn't Nvidia. I think the problem is mainly with the Nvidia 8 series, and only appears to occur with Vista.

Not sure if that helps any of you, but I thought I'd give you my eperience with this issue.

Ok I see I failed to mention I have Windows professional (SP3), and as for the card problem..... yes i heard of that, and read about it on forums.... But I didn't have any problems with mine for 6 months now, since i bought it. I'll try to get back on my old drivers to see if there are any changes (although i had them when this started). Since my last post i tried to scan my computer with all kind of programs (superanti spyware, ad aware, ccleaner, antimalware....) and found nothing. I ran gw test but honestly I don't know what most of it means so I'll attach it if anyone cares to take a look....

Try updating your motherboard BIOS and drivers. The issues with the 8 and 9 series cards was resolved quite a while ago (in regards to Vista only).

If the issue is XP SP3, then in all likelihood, that issue isn't just the card or display drivers.

If that fails, you might try reinstalling Windows. I have found no existing issues with driver recovery in SP3 in regards to updated 8 and 9 series drivers. There is an open issue regarding the 7900 series and WindowsXP SP3, but that is very niche.
