The integrated Intel cards are just riddled with problems...

How bout the computer itself?

Can you post:

Laptop/Desktop
CPU (processor)
RAM (aka "Memory")

If it's a laptop you will need to do some tweaking, I forget where the post is here on guru but hopefully someone knows and will post it for you.

If it's a Desktop you are in luck, check and see if you have an AGP 8x or PCI Express x16 Slot available and buy a new graphics card. You don't need a monster of a card to get the game to run good. I'd say anything ATI Radeon x1600 grade or above will do. 128-256 MB or higher is also good. I mentioned the x1600 because thats what I have and it runs great. You can probably get a Radeon HD series really cheap though, even better.

shouldn't happen, is it only Rata Sum? Was it packed?

-image it. It might be downloading, displaying, and playing at the same time. I could see that overloading that chipset, especially if its crowded.

Generally, Intel GMA chips are not supported in Guild Wars. You might want to see this thread for more information.

The G31 from Intel is rotten for gaming - many many people that have that chipset cannot load in Rata Sum,or once they get there they are "stuck" search for the stikied thread by Moriz, I think it's int he Hardware section - there may be some work arounds that will let you play, although not the most enjoyable of gaming experiences. Since it's a desktop and new you just about can be sure that you have an empty PCI- Express x 16 slot available - there are dedicated video cards on the market now for under $50 that will handle GW and more with ease. I suggest gettign one of them.

Too bad you didn't give us the model number of the Dell so we could look it up.

But anyway, as has been said, if the computer has a actual physical PCI-e slot, ANY discrete video card would be better than the Intel GMA.

From what I can find on the 530s, it's a slim-line, small case. It apparently has a PCI-e slot, but you will probably need a low-profile video card to fit in the case.

Edit: that POS dell only comes with a 250watt power supply, which reduces your video card choices even further.
