So...I received a response and was told to try at the european servers...I've been switching back and forth between euro and international and have not noticed a significant difference, the game is still impossible to play. Another suggestion they gave me was to try and access GW from a different location, I'm going to have a guildie who lives about 30 min (by car) away from me to try it out in the next hour or so. The person helping me (Christopher) in support DID mention that they haven't had any problems in my area..only in Australia (so hurrah for you aussie ppl...they're looking into it :-).

Since about the 4th of September I also have been experiencing unplayable lag & disconnects from about 2PM till the early hours of the morning (Brisbane , Aust time ) . Three days ago I churned from my old ISP aanet to Internode & have had no lag issues since - * crosses fingers * .

Thanks Paul, keep us updated!

Dont really want to have to churn just so I can play Guild Wars. Everything else works fine, so surely something can be done to fix this? So at this point it looks like server point access? Who would be responsible for something like that if it is?

I'd like to know what the actual problem is before I change my ISP too, dont want to run and change and pay for reconnection costs, only to have a fix shortly after.

received a reply from jamison who switched to Internode he says all is well. I should churn over in 1-3 days and I will let all know.

If it DOES work then you know there's always an ISP out there to use. At the very least you can inform your ISP that it IS their problem and if it aint fixed you will leave and inform many others to leave. This really isnt an isolated case.

Still messing about with aaNet, they believe that the problem lies with a Singtel / NCsoft link, thus removing it from their hands.

NCsoft seem to think that it's still our ISP, thus removing it from their hands.

Although support from aaNet have made a little progress

Well, the information posted so far is not very conclusive. My current thoughts based on what I can see is that the issue is with Guild wars and their bandwidth provider.

A case has been logged with our network engineers who are investigating further, and will log a case with Optus if possible(assuming Optus can do anything).

I get on during the day when I can, but at night it's still as shocking as ever. I only want to churn over to another ISP as a last resort, Guild Wars isn't really worth it to me anymore and after over 2 years of playing, I've probably got my hours worth. But I've barely touched GW:en, and I've been guildless for a bit, finding a guild is nigh on impossible without even being able to CHAT with prospective guilds.

If it doesn't get resolved then next time someone asks me for a new game to play, I'll be telling them to steer clear of GW.

Get your ISP provider to Prioritize QoS for Guild Wars they use the same to WoW apparently as both games have been bad for us.
Also get them to check the game signatures.

My ISP (Exetel) has now fixed all this there end and Guild Wars and WoW are now running great to Oz for me and many others that play from that ISP
since they did all this tweaking.
Hope this helps

Hi guys, do not blame Guild Wars or NCSoft for this lag. I am pretty sure that it is your ISP. Churn to Internode, just like Paul and Seissor, I churned to Internode and immediately my ping was back to normal. Seriously, churn to Internode, don't blame Guild Wars. (how many times did I say Churn and Internode in that paragraph :P)

PS: When you get back in GW Kittani, you are welcome in my guild, (full Australian/NZ guild, in full Australian/NZ alliance).

im now on internode 0 issues. and i must say i did have issues with telstra not switching my line over. but internode tech support was soooo polite and helpful and 12 hours after i reported my problem it was FIXED.

now with eftel my old isp it took them 3 days to say "its not our problem" when i had any fault in my service.

i know ppl may not want to churn over, thats fine so maybe investigate roo ella's option or tell your ISP again it IS THEIR PROBLEM! and ppl have left en masse to internode, their rival because of it!

you know what is very odd? I had your exact situation about a month and a half ago, and anet gave me exact mssgs back too (pingplotter, hijack this), and I was using 2 comps, 1 new and 1 old but both not working with GW. the best part of it all though, was in the end, i got a new modem from my ISP after countless calls to customer service (they of course said that internet was working fine when they "tested" it, but ofc they were BSing). The new modem immediately fixed all my connection problems with GW. I went from 50,000-100,000 ping to 100-200 ping as soon as the modem was changed. try to get a new modem from your ISP, if you got one recently, ask for another. this was infact the SECOND new modem i got within 2 weeks, the first new one mustve been broken. Hope this helps, i remember this problem annoyed me for weeks.

Well i m on EFtel and i have been reading everything i can about this problem ... for nearly 2 months now this has been on going and yet there is no end in sight. From what i have seen it is not just one ISP but many and after reading forums on whirlpool, aanet and here that seems to be the case, I read that even internode had issues with lag but from what u say here it seems it may be fixed. MY ISP told me it was my problem so i m late posting this as i wanted to check all my basis first to make sure that it wasnt me (so i bought a new router, cables, modem and even got a top fo the range new computer) but big suprise!!!! its wasnt me. i have run trace routes and yes another supprise EFtel is going through Singtel as well and thats where i m lossing all the packets and timing out... Now its great that we all know where the problem SEEMS to be but surely someone somewhere (from like one of the ISP) can find a solution to this problem. I m not going to lay blame anywhere BUT here is a novel idea CANT ANET AND THE ISP's GET TOGETHER AND SORT IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as of yet no one is getting anywhere alone.

well darn it. I know I posted a "sollution" a little while back, which DID solve my problems for a while, but they are back again just as bad if not WORSE than ever, and have been for the last 2-3 weeks.

I can play just fine during the day, but at arround 3-4 pm I start to get lag which does not clear up again tilll between 2 and 3am.

My ISP is dodo, they also say there is no problem with my connection. As far as they are concerned, it is my computer that is a problem ( I think not) or it is an NC soft problem - but definately not theirs. Dodo also buy internet from a re-seller who buys from optus, so we are routed through SingTel, same as the other people mentioned in this thread.

I WANT to churn to internode, as many people have said they dont have any problems with them, but my husband is flatly refusing to believe me thatI have a problem, and refuseing to change ISP. Unfortunately for me, my husband is a technitian for Telstra - he spends his day driving arround fixinf people's telephone and internet problems all day, and refuses to believe I am having such an issue , as with the same as everyone else, general internet use and downloading isnt a problem - its online gameing being messed with by singtel.

Going to have to talk to him and porribly throw a hissy fit or 3 till he makes teh damn call to churn us to another ISP ( we dont have our intenet with Telstra, as even though he is staff, they are just too damn expensive and we simply cant afford them )

Quick update from the aaNet side of things...

Still sucks, probably even worse now. Guild Wars would be playable until about 7, then would get laggy. Now, at about 2pm, the lag starts, and also all day and night over the weekend.

And yes, we're still with aaNet (for the time being). They've acknowledged that it's a problem, so we're no longer getting the run-around (as badly). They've taken it up with Optus/Singtel, but I doubt just how and WHEN they'll fix it. Had to send in tracerts and ping to aaNet the other night so they could give that info forwards, it's a little step, but at least it's progress.

I've had up to here with aaNet, but unfortunately no other ISP can compare price wise... but I'm not getting the service that I am paying for.

So aanet, Eftel and now Dodo are having this riduculous issue? There are probably others out there thinking that it's their problem, and are getting fobbed off by their ISP's who wont/not willing to listen.

Well the joys of being Australian :P
I thought my lag was bad, I get so frustrated but the max I've gotten is 18k...Now i see mien is hardly as bad. I'm live in Western Australia and with Optus.

Anyway what does 'churn' mean? Didnt have time to read through the whoel thread, but what's 'churn' and 'internode'? Sorry :/

I just started getting insane lags the past few days.

Fyi, my university's ISP have done up to 12mbps on d/l (with my compy) and I usually sit around 20-38ms of ping.

And all this (95% of the time) is happening *only* in RA!
