Default long delay until login screen

Hi,
the time from double clicking the gw icon on my desktop until the login screen appears is getting increasingly long.

It now takes 4-5 minutes before the login screen appears.. anyone know how to fix this?

you are either downloading an update *but thart should only happen once in a couple months) or its trying to repair data archive (if it is it will say it) if this is the case you need to delete the gw.dat because its corrupted and re-install (you wont lose anything but you will need to re-dowload all the areas)

you could defrag the gw.dat file too, I've noticed pretty good gains by doing that once in awhile. auslogic.com has a good, free version that will allow you to defrag specific files... much faster than Windows built in defrag too.

Thanks,
yeah, i know what updates are and I can read an error message so its definately not either of those.

I couldnt find the free softwarte you mentioned, though I did download defraggler which allows the defrag of single files.. hasnt made any difference. Though I strongly suspect that a fragmented dat file is the problem, I really dont want to delete it with all the delays that will produce but I may resort to that.

Did you try using the "-image" command?
