So, i got a laptop from school, and i installed Gw on it, Tried it at home, It worked just fine.
Today i went to school, and it would just sit at "Connecting to Arena net" forever?

Whats Causing this and how do i fix it?

ok, Maybe should have said this, But we Are allowed to play On brakes.

And Wow, Cs, Quake, Youtube all works.

Note : The network dude Logs everything, and he will hunt me if i try to hack something or something like that

At the place i work they limit sites that you can connect to (no you tube,my space etc etc) ,i'd guess thats the reason you cannot connect , as for how you fix it i can't help you but no doubt someone on here will be able to,actually i would be interested to know myself.

If your school blocks websites such as social networking sites like Facebook, then that is why you cannot connect.

I had the same thing in my previous school. My own laptop had GW installed and using the school's internet, it worked fine for a few weeks. Then i guess they caught on to me (the networking is also managed by the county council) and blocked Guru and i was forever stuck on the grey loading window because GW actually starts.

Other than that, it might be a port problem. School laptops are weird. But i don't know what it's like in Sweden ^^

Added: To fix the problem, depending on how extreme your school blocks websites, you can find a proxy (millions of them, but most will probably be blocked too) and use it to access blocked sites. however these simple proxy servers only help access websites and usually text will only be available, images are slightly harders, videos even worse. A proxy simply scrambles your IP address so the system ignores you. but to transfer that to allow softwares to run is beyond me.

You should be studying in school anyways! :P

Possibly, but wouldnt that block other things too?

ok maybe they use a proxy server and there are some programs that can bypass the proxy so u can play games.
what's also posible, that they allowed youtube through the proxy.

my school uses a proxy too and i use 2 programms to bypass the proxy
your-freedom en sockscap
your-freedom bypasses the proxy so that the proxy server thinks u are surfing the www and sockcap is used to launch the programms, in other words games

i hope taht this is it, otherwise i would turn off my firewall to check that one

Easy fix buy you own internet connection

Can you access the ingame diagnostics from the GW? See what the program finds. My guess is the schools blocking the site like spam Maybe you can call them and ask them if it is allowed or if they can allow it.

so i assume they use a proxy server?
i guess u have a login for the network at school of somesort.

what u do with your-freedom is create a login at there site, and then run the wizard. it asks of the login of your schoolnetwork (if u have them), fill them in, then t checks if the setting are allright.
after that it searches for availeble server(your-freedom servers) that they can connect to(so that the proxyserver at school thinks your browsing the internet) the only real problem is that u must know the correct tcp/ip port that the proxy server uses. at mine school it was port 8080. if u know this then there is no problem. u must fill this in somewhere in the wizard.

after that it must me allright.
if u press connect then u will see a picture of a door that is open and that means that the connection is alright^^

sockscap is much easier, after your-freedom works fine, u start sockscap, go to the settings and set the socks server to localhost. that way it will use ure laptop as server. then u choose the attempt local then remote option.
i dont know if u must check the checkbox for the username/password but u can just see if 1 works. here a picture:

if the settings are done u must add the gw.exe to the shortcuts in sockscap, so sockscap runs GW and then u must be able to play ^^

if all this doesn't work, then i really dont know how to play GW at your school... but i hope u will be able to play

otherwise ask the WOW guy how he does it
