Default Really Bad Problem (Graphics)

Hi.
Ever since I installed Guild Wars, i have had the same problem.
My Character and other characters around me have white textures instead of there armor and weapons.
The only thing that shows is My skin, and all the armor/clothing on my head.
from the picture you can see my problem.

(the ground around me and stuff that is white was fixed. my armor and weapons and other peoples are still blank white on my comp.

This might have something to do with the fact that i am using an onboard Graphics card which just barely passes the minimum specs but still meets them.

ah yeah... you actually don't meet the minimum requirements. i'm surprised that it ran at all.

the 32mb of RAM is too small, and GW can no longer buffer enough textures to display the terrain and other elements, hence the white glowing thingies. if it is possible, change texture and terrain quality to "low". it will make the game look like crap, but at least you'll be able to see things.

if that's the case, go into your system's BIOS and see if you can raise the RAM allocated to video to 64mb. if memory serves me correctly, the Intel 82810 can support up to 64mb.

you also might try the switch -dx8

right-click the shortcut icon, go to properties, find the line labeled Target, and add the switch to the end of it.

for example:"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -dx8

this forces gw to use dx8 instead of dx9 graphics, might help.

when your computer is booting up, press DEL (or whatever key it is for your motherboard. you'll have to find this out yourself). this will open the BIOS. once you are there, look around for a way to increase the memory for your onboard graphics. unfortunately, since i don't know what kind of motherboard you have, i cannot give you anything more specific.

btw, his game will automatically default to dx8 rendering, so there's no need for the -dx8 switch. a more useful one would be the -noshaders switch; however, that particular switch doesn't work right with intel integrated graphics.

what is the name and model number for your computer? We might be able to check and see if there are any cheap upgrades that you can do....

***I'm afraid you are screwed as far as upping the VRAM - From Intel :

"The Intel® 810/815 chipset families will dynamically allocate video memory up to 32 MB with the PV 6.x graphics drivers. The amount of video memory cannot be adjusted by the user."

Also this series is so darned old that Intel stopped offering support for it end of 2004.....

LOL

Anyways I wonder if OP's Motherboard allows for a small memory chip expansion, I've seen some older Mobos with actual laptop-sized ramslots near the graphics cards..yeah i know weird...if he could find one and pp it in probably work if he can't just get a new PC right away.
