Ok so Im new to texmod and I cant get it to work. Ive downloaded texmod (Obviously) and the .tpf files that I want to play with. I open texmod, select gw as the program Id like to run it with, select the .tpf files id like to run with the game, and then I hit the run button. Guild Wars pops open, but none of the mods are there in game. Ive tried disabling my antivirus+firewall. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling texmod, guild wars, and the .tpf files. The .tpf files Im using I got from the wiki page so I know that they work. Ive tried putting texmod and the .tpf file on my allow list for my firewall and antivirus anyways (Just in case) and Ive tried changing the location of guild wars and reselecting it. All of this to no avail.

Can anyone offer me any advice?

Im running windows xp home edition with a nVidia GeForce4 mx integrated gpu video card, and I have DirectX9 installed.

geforce 4 mx does not actually support dx9, so i'm not sure if texmod would work for it.

That could be an issue =0 Whats a good video card that does support dx9 that i could pick up cheap??

i honestly won't bother. there's no point in trying to upgrade such an old computer. not to mention, buying graphic cards from walmart is a serious mistake.

Not having DX9 is definately the problem as texmod needs DX9+.

If you really do want to upgrade, it's worth forking out some extra money to get a better piece of equipment (And not from Wallmart). But if your computer is old and outdated its probably not worth the bother. If you are really desperate to do Texmod, then go buy something with DX9+, but I would suggest leaving it/getting a new PC.

You may need to check that your computer can support that video card - the main issue being AGP 8x (as opposed to the earlier 4x).
Other than any political reasons you may have for not liking Wal-mart, there is no difference in an EVGA brand card bought at Wal-mart than bought anywhere else. There is no reason to think it would be mistake to buy the card at Wal-mart.

Cards that support DX9 are everywhere today for mad cheap, even the computers that surround them are cheap, I'd get a much better comp before you go modding a game, it's best to mod a game in maximum graphics btw too.

I don't know why I assumed it was old. If it has an AGP port, you can buy some good cards still. Obviously it won't perform like some watercooled overclocked PCIe card that people flash along with their ego around, but an average card gets the job done just like my comp and runs max graphics decent fps. Seems you just need a new graphics card at that.

they were still selling computers with AGP slots 2 years ago? last time i checked, the geforce 4 mx is almost seven years old. where did you buy this thing, the pawn shop?

not to sound offensive or anything, but you got seriously ripped off if this system is only two years old.

My spending limit right now on a new video card is probably around $70 =S

Lmao no @_@ no pawn shops here, just someone who has a lot of useless old computer stuff lying around for salvage when another one stops working @_@ I have horrible luck with computers XD

Edit: lol, when I first got the computer it had some radeon card in it. One day it just up and stopped working though

Edit2: I did some number crunching and I could safely probably spend about $600 if I really wanted to put forth the effort in a new computer. Suggestions?

I assumed it was old due to the current video card, OS doesnt mean much, my PC is pretty damn good (3.2Ghz dual, 4gb RAM, 9800GTX+) and it runs XP.
Give us the specs on your PC, then we can recommend whether it is worth it to upgrade or not.

In my opinion the best cards around your price range are the 8600GT and 9600GSO.
I have an 8600GT in an older PC, its pretty good for an old card. It runs GW/CSS/CoD4/CoD5/Prototype/Assassins Creed/L4D etc on max (or very close) settings.
The 9600GSO is newer, and I have heard it is very good for its price.
