Default GW not a valid application?

got a strange error message today. i double clicked on my GW shortcut, got today's update, and went to my log-in screen. i didn't even log-in because i got distracted and had to leave for a minute, so i just X-ed out of GW before even logging in. when i got back and try to run GW i get an error message saying, "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe is not a valid Win32 application." Also all of my different shortcuts (-image, -password, etc) have that generic empty window icon instead of the GW helmet. i'm not sure if this is connected to the update or if i may have done something wrong. but if anyone has a solution, i would greatly appreciate it. BTW, i'm quite computer illeterate, so details are pretty necessary. i'm on windows XP.

thanks in advance.

Off the top of my head i'd say try restarting the computer and see if that fixes it.

Weird...I've seen the error on some really hurtin PC's where lots of programs were not valid win32 apps. The solution was just to go to the program exe and make sure the .exe extension was tagged on it, maybe yours got somehow changed.
