Default Error 58...

Alright, now, I've searched all over the internet before coming to an actual forum for help. For two days now, I've been trying to play Guild Wars again, and NOTHING'S changed since I last played it a few months ago. But see, I forgot my password, so when I click to resend a new one, I type in my e-mail address, and right away it gives me the code, saying a problem with the internet.

Here's the thing; No firewalls (I knew someone would suggest it), Internet works PERFECTLY fine, I've tried changing GW.dat to GW.bak (and it wouldn't even open up), and when I go to test my computer, it won't log in to half of the servers, which is kinda odd to me.

Please, does anyone know a way to help me? And please don't refer me to the game company, because I have past experiences that knows they'll SAY they'll do something, then end up not changing a thing.

Please, help a fellow bored gamer?

There are a lot of things you can do, but saying you have no firewall is ridiculous. Windows Firewall for one, and the one built into your wireless router. I'd say reset your broadband modem (either reset button or unplug for 30 seconds), same for your router (reset or unplug for 30+ seconds) and try again. Try resetting your windows Local Area Connection to your router..etc. Something somewhere along your network got the funny idea that only some of the anet IP's were "bad" at one point and fully blocked access.

There honestly isn't anything else that can be done....

Alright, I'll try those and post back. Thank you.

As for the firewalls, I've searched all over my computer and couldn't find any, so that's what I meant by no firewalls, though it was my bad for including that part.

Ugh... that didn't help... no offense, thank you for the advice, but for some reason, it still doesn't work. Ah well, I'll figure something out.

Ah, sorry man. Also sorry for coming across like sort of an ass with the firewall part, I actually meant that it is easy to be behind a firewall and not know it, like the router. Hope you do solve that problem though, it sounds pretty weird.

If you have a router try plugging in directly to the modem.

If it works when plugged directly to the modem, then try restoring the router back to factory or test with a different port on the router. You might also need to clear the port in the router in case if it has be blocked in the settings for the router.

http://www.portforward.com/cports.htm

Find Guild Wars in the list and it will give you the ports to forward. Also if you click on Guild Wars and select your router it will show you how to forward the port in your routers settings.

Hope this helps.
