It's fine for guildwars.

Well The Reason i ask is that i just bought the 8400 gs and it came yesterday, installed it, got drivers everything, go to play guildwars and i have 5-8 FPS! I was like wtf?!? so yea im so confused.

O my bad misread I'm sorry, 5-8fps is quite strange indeed make sure you got the newest drivers.

The 8400GS is pretty low down on the performance scale. How well it would work for you would also depend upon other parts of your system, such as your cpu, RAM etc.
What are your system specs - particularly, how much RAM do you have and what's the CPU?
Also, what did you have for video before the 8400? If it's on-board, make sure it's now Disabled in the BIOS.
Did you uninstall the old drivers and install the new ones?

The machine I'm currently typing at has a GeForce 6600 and it manages 25-35 fps. Something else is wrong besides the video card.

My computer is pretty crappy but w/e here it goes

I have a 2.93ghz single core proccessor, 2gb of ddr2 ram,

I was using a Geforce nvidia 5500 fx not onboard, and yes i unistalled the old drivers then installed the new drivers straight from this link http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_195.62_whql.html

You said you only have a PCI slot, are you sure? Of course newer ones have a longer PCI called PCI express...Most older comps have one set back a little further, usually brown called AGP, you sure you don't have at least an AGP? There are still some good cards on the market for AGP left.

make sure you uncheck the sync box in options

uncheck sync on both videa card control panel and guild wars graphics sections, no fps increase this is terrible.

a long time ago i had a radeon 9200 for pci . . . it just didn't perform
i think pci slot only is going to hurt bad
