Default Audio Failure After Video Card Addition *RESOLVED*

EDIT: For anyone wondering, I simply had to go to the BIOS and change my onboard audio setting to "on" instead of "auto".

Hi everybody... I added 3 gigs of RAM and an ATI Radeon 4760 graphics card to my HP computer yesterday. It all works fine. The computer recognizes them and things are running smoothly, but now I have no audio at all. The speakers do nothing, and the computer now doesn't even recognize headphones like it used to. I've checked every audio setting I know of, and it all seems like it should work fine.

One thing I've noticed is that when I hover over the speaker in the system tray, it says "Digital Output Device (HDMI)", and says it's working fine. I don't remember that from before the upgrade (though I could be wrong), and I feel like that could be part of the problem. Do I need to change the hookup?

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks!

Your graphics card has HDMI output, and it is sending sound over that.
You need to set default sound output to whatever your soundcard is.

Like here in the picture you can see the one I want sound to output over has a green checkmark on it.

Miss Eisei, why do you have both the onboard AC97 and the SB Audigy enabled? If the SB works ok, I'd disable the AC97 in the BIOS - it can cause conflicts having both enabled.

Your advice to the OP is spot on, though

It would only cause problems if you don't have enough free IRQ etc :P
AND creatives drivers are about as crappy as dogpoop :P
The MIC in refuses to work nomatter what I do, the drivers are unable to switch the input between digital/mic, so theres your answer, I use the AC97 for MIC only

Thanks for the reply, first off...

I've actually gone to that screen to change the output, but it doesn't work for me. I only get one option.

I expected to see an option for a sound card or something, but that's all I get. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm guessing your motherboard has a built in soundcard?
You should check your bios settings and see if you can find anything there.
Also check in the Device Manager to see if you have any device with the " ! " on it.
