Default computer problem

erm hehehe, so I don't have any idea with the Bios settings,

And i have been having this problem with the new computer i have, screen froze at the motherboard screen, so i search online how to fix that, and found some forums guideline saying its because the bios setting of Boot priority has been set wrongly.

so i open the bios setting to find i have 1) dvd drive 2 HDD and 3) dvd drive ,

so my question is, is it correct to have 2 dvd drive in the boot priority if i only have 1 dvd drive?

but i already set it to dvd drive, HDD, usb HDD , and when i restart it gotten worse, nothing, not even the motherboard screen,

so i open the side panel, touch a few things lol, and press the connection thingy that connect the hard drive to the motherboard and then it works.

so question, is it because the stupid connection wire were loose or is it i've set the bios priority wrong?

please help althought it has nothing to do with not being able to load the game, but if you look at it differently i can't load the game if i can't load the computer helpppp. thanks.

Boot priority shouldn't make any difference at all - except for the lag when the PC decides whether you really want to boot from a DVD before it boots from the HDD as normal.

My boot priority is 1)HDD 2)Disabled 3)Disabled 4)Disabled

so is the computer working or not??? If it was just a loose cable, that is very understandable, and not a reason to send it back....

Then, you get into the BIOS and change the boot order.

It's not unusual to have a cable come loose and screw up the boot up, if the computer has been moved around. Particularly during the trip home from the store where you bought it - all that bouncing around in the car.
As Snograt said, the boot order shouldn't cause a problem, it simply sets the order in which the computer looks for boot info. So, with yours, it would check the DVD drive first, and if there's no bootable disk there, it will try the HDD next. Note: if you do want to boot off the DVD drive, like to boot off the Windows CD/DVD, then you need to have the DVD as the first boot.

Delete gives you access to the BIOS - F8 gives you access to the boot menu, which just gives you the option of which device to boot from for this session only - very useful

Not all motherboards come with the option to select the boot device, and those that do, don't all use F8. But when they do, it is a nice feature.

Hehe - it turned out it was Esc after all!

F8 is the default for advanced boot options - safe mode and whatnot.

I generally set boot order to CD/DVD/Blu-ray, (sometimes floppy but with how those are dead no need anymoer) then HDD, then everything else.
