Default Replacements for my laptop

I've recently been told by a tech guy at compusa that I needed to replace my motherboard and videocard. So I did just that and I wanted some help from you fine gurus. The specs for my laptop: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/tosh...tag=mncol;psum
I found a videocard http://computers.pricegrabber.com/vi...t=product_tab/
and the motherboard http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Toshiba-Sate...QQcmdZViewItem
I'm trying to make sure I got everything correct since I hate having to look at the laptop in my closet being unused for 4 months. I would also like to know if I can still use my old cpu chip on the new motherboard. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid that the videocard you've selected is for normal desktop computers and not laptops. Now, the fact that you're asking us for help here also tells me that you will be unable to put the new motherboard in your laptop yourself ( it's a completely different story when it comes to laptops and desktops ).

This means you will have to let a company do it for you most likely. Your laptop still looks rather new, is there no warranty on it anymore? That would save you a lot of money.

As for the parts, hardware-wise I'm not too familiar with them, but I'm sure someone else here is.

I bought the laptop back in September 2007 and the warranty expired around Oct/Nov 08. I called Toshiba for a motherboard replacement but they asked me around $400 for the shipping/checkup/replacement. I hate having an underused product, I might as well save up the cash and build me a new desktop but thanks anyway for the reply.

Yes - Motherboards for laptops are generally very expensive and not worth buying in most cases (as a replacement). Also, most graphics cards are soldered onto the motherboard, whether they are integrated or dedicated.... with the right parts and know-how you could do what you are suggesting, but it would be much more difficult and far more expensive than just buying a new laptop or better yet (assuming you don't need a mobile solution) build a desktop (by far the best performance per dollar value for you or anyone).

***Unless I am mistaken this is the laptop you had before??? Good price here.. very good price....
