Default Logitech G19 keyboard

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ke.../4956&cl=us,en

Fixes most of the errors made when the G15 became the G15 mkII. Now you can again bask in the blue glow from the keys. Or orange. Or red, yellow, white, magenta...

2 powered USB2 ports.

12 programmable "G" keys (better than the mkII's 6, but still not the 18 we know and love)

All the usual media control keys, including a very nice old-school analogue volume control wheel.

Oh, and an utterly pointless 320x240 color screen that can play YouTube videos

The downside? $199...

Only a total muppet would pay that for a keyboard

Snograt quietly raises his muppetty hand

Is the color lcd worth the extra money over the G15 you ask? Simple: No.

Nope, absolutely not.

The keys have a nice, reassuring, expensive feel about them, though.

Imo buy a G15 and a 19" Lcd screen for less and display a huge clock on it.

Sorry folks - had to delete two of my posts and deluxe's and tagren's. The G15 applet I mentioned comes from a site that advocates bots and macros. That's a total no-go area for this site.

Why is there an AC adapter? Do you have to plug this friggin keyboard into an outlet?

Does it feel the same as with the G15 when typing? I also read they have a mini-keyboard for gamers, the G13 gameboard.

@Obsy - yes, you need to plug it into an outlet. "Powered USB2 ports" was a bit of a hint

@Fril - It feels better than the G15 for typing. Unusually for an expensive keyboard, they've gone with membrane again, rather than mechanical contacts. I would guess for the smoothness and quietness, but there is still a nice, positive feedback from the keys.

And yes, the G13 keypad. It's like a chunk sliced off of a G19, with all the G-keys and a less-than-vital 4-way analogue mini-joystick. It's got surprisingly good reviews, so there must be some people who can make use of such a thing ^_^

not fairl! i only have my G15 for less then 3 months and there's already a new one.

snograt is correct about the typing, I am still in the process of getting use to the G15 keyboard. i keep skipping one key to the left for my left hand because of the extra G keys.

I haven't use a G19, but the extra 2 columns of keys to the left is a bit discouraging, since I already can't get use to only one columns on the G15.

Just imagine my nightmares when I have to switch between G15 and Microsoft ComfortCurve (who's comfort of typing is amazing), because Trackmania Nations Forever doesn't like the G15 at all.

Snog: you're officially a geek G13 sounds weird, but so were a lot of technologies at their beginning (mouse FTW).

I just wish my G15 keys were 10% wider! On the other hand, the G15 LCD keys seem better positioned then the G19's. And now I'm enjoying my RSS applet a lot to read google news!
