Default Still possible to fix my semi-fried 8800GT?

Last night my PC kept shutting down all the time whilst playing Borderlands and I thought it was software related so I just tried a couple of times more. Then I decided to check my machine and noticed a heatsink had randomly fallen off of one of my XFX8800GTs ( not passively cooled, just an aftermarket cooler with separate heatsinks for the memory modules.

So, now 1 of the memory modules seems fried. When I put it in SLI and boot a game the textures become all orange as such: ( screenshot doesn't work )

Is there any way to fix it ? ( I'm guessing not ). Luckily I can still use the fried one as a PhysX card but it'd be nicer to have them back in SLI again.

I've tried 'the oven trick' ( http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=606658 ) already because it's worked before on another card, but it didn't do anything this time.

not fixable, sorry mate..... :/

warranty is your only option, providing you have it registered, or it's still under the 2(or is it 3?) year initial purchase period.

ps - sticking any computer part in an oven will invalidate any warranty for sure.

***Unrelated edit, but I just looked at the picture in the linked article on the ocforums - All I can say is anyone who has enough dust coated on their video card and interior of the case to choke a cow and then tells me to stick my video card in an oven to "fix" it ..... = no credibility.

Well GW isnt a big fan of SLI anyway,

I see your tried the oven trick, is that picture what happened before, or after the oven trick,

Also regards that i wonder who the first person was to think hey let me stick my $400 GFX ( more when they first came out ) card into the oven.

Thanks for the help so far, I'll see if I can contact XFX for warranty. However, doesn't using an aftermarket cooler also void warranty? I'm not even sure if I have the stock one here anymore

It does sound crazy, but it's helped with an old 6800 Ultra of mine ( and my case is cleaner than the house of a person suffering from mysophobia ! )

as long as all of the original part# serial# stickers aren't removed you should be in the green. once those stickers are removed/gone/tampered with. kiss the warranty bye-bye.

if you don't have the stock cooler parts, don't even bother contacting them about warranty. they won't RMA without them (re-installed onto gpu).

XFX has a much better than average warranty on thier products. Installing an after market cooler does not necessarly mean you void the warranty on video cards. I would advise going to thier support forums (For North America: http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=86) and telling them what has happened.
