Hi,

Had a HP 6735s for just over a year now, ran out of wanrantee a month or so ago.

I'm havign serious Overheat problems, so much so that the PC is switching itself off. Then fan is maxed out most of the time too.

I downloaded a programme to let me know of my CPU temps, and both are running between 95-98*C.

Think im gonna send it in for a fix somewhere, but any info anyone can give me that might help would be great.

could it be packed full of dust or have a dust bunny clogging it up? maybe try blasting it with canned air? That temp is ... too hot, damagingly hot methinks

I agree, make sure the cooling fan and ducting is not clogged with dust bunnies.

If your CPU is hitting that temp in a laptop, i wouldnt be turning it back on, until i had made sure.

1. all the fans etc are free from dust ( which has been said already )

2. that the heatsink hasnt managed to detach itself from the CPU itself, there is no way that CPU should be hitting that temp.

Well thanks guys, I'm not much of a techy but i opened it up today and the fan looked fine, going to pop it into the local computer shop i think.

Hey, I have an HP and the exact same problem. The way I solved it is by elevating the back of the computer (where the fan is). The computer is pretty badly designed so that when it is flat on a serface it always overheats, raising it helps the fan to breathe better. Since I've done this the problem has pretty much disappeared. Hope this helps you!
