Default External Graphics Card

Hello all,

I was considering buying an external graphics card for my laptop since it sometimes struggles running Guild Wars when I play on my monitor at 1440x900 (I think) resolution. I have an integrated graphics card so I won't be able to replace it out right, so I figured an external was the next best thing.

I was hoping to get some suggestions of external graphics cards which would work for my situation. I browsed on google a bit, but I am completely new to graphics cards and don't really know what I'm looking at. Also, I would like to use it to play GW2 when it comes out.

My computer specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (2.92 GB usable)
System Type: Windows 7 32-bit

Thanks

Not going to work. Those things are designed to allow you to have multiple monitors connected to your laptop, they are meant for presentations and multi-tasking, they often struggle to even display a dvd movie and no way in Halifax will they work to play GW.

Darn...I guess I'm stuck with it for now then. That explains why I couldn't find much on google concerning external cards and gaming. Thanks for your help

Check at www.notebookreview.com, they have a thread on that in the gaming section. However, even if the GPU is powerful enough, the problem is that you'll be limited by the bandwidth of your connection (USB2.0 etc).
