FPS Problems NEED HELP
i have had it with ncsoft... they arent helping at all so im turning to fellow players to help my Guildwars frames problem.....
Im running 3-7 fps with the lowest visual settings.... heres my hardware.... Windows Xp Home edition Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor 3300+ Hard drive space: 118 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS RAM: 1.37 GB i have green ping.... and im having terrible framrate....if i hav it on the highest settings it runs the same as with the lowest setting (3-7 fps) i have "-noshader -dx8" on and i did the "-image" thing and nothing happened the people at ncsoft blame a incorrect download of windows... but i had my local tech man come and redo even tho he said that he had done it properly wen he last looked at my comp. i have no where to go so PLEASE HELP

I know nothing about nVidia cards, if it was an ATi card I could tell you. But from googling..it seems the 8400GS is around the Radeon HD 2400.
Incorrect download of Windows being at fault is quite Lulzy..that has nothing to do with it. Do you have any information on your Power Supply? Sometimes, when you put too much load on a low-wattage powersupply and have a power consuming graphics card (again I'm only assuming, I know nothing about nVidia) thrown into the mix, these sorta things tend to happen. The card might not be getting enough power to work correctly. Also, is the 8400 GS Integrated, PCI-e or AGP? Not sure how Integrated nVidia GPU's perform, my Radeon x1600 is integrated and performs very well with GW, but yours is an nVidia, different brand. |

PCI? that would be your issue right there. PCI has a restrictively small bandwidth that will choke the life out of any modern graphic card. strangely enough, the new PCI cards like the 8400 GS are actually SLOWER in GW than the older ones, like the 6200 LE.
does your computer have an AGP slot? you are better off finding an older AGP card like the radeon 9800PRO. AGP has much better bandwidth and should give you better performance. |

so ur saying downgrade my video card -_-... it makes everything else OTHER than GW run better.... it made CODMW2 run... before it said my video card wasnt good enough... and now it runs

Oh dear God.... Yes... PCI is unbelievably ancient! I remember before I became a hardcore computer ethusiast I had a PC that only had PCI. Boy oh boy did I facepalm when I finally upgraded to AGP (and furthermore down the line to PCI-E) and seen how much I was missing out (hence I started to become facinated with PCs).
Let's just say that going from PCI to AGP was like putting NoS on a scooter. xD It's THAT much of a difference. |

You got anything running in thebackground? how long has it been happing for? what did u resently install? are your drivers up to date(NOT WHAT WINDOWS SAYS) is ur cpu dual or the single core 64 bit amd cpu? and is your card over heating at all? how old is the card?

yes but the msot current updated drivers with win 7 computer companies have had more updates for comatiablity or other issues it's alwasy best to dl and reinstall the msot current updateed version of the drivers and well worth trying even if u have them al ready sometimes they mess up seen it happen. and the cards not over heating is it?
