Hello, when i play Guild Wars for around 30-60mins, my screen goes all "fuzzy", its not just Guild Wars, its desktop and stuff, but it only starts when playing Guild Wars.

My Gfx card is NOT overheating, it runs around 50-60c.

However, i have done a DirectX test, and when i do one, my screen goes completely black and then i have to restart my laptop.

If i take a screenshot of the fuzzy graphics, it doesnt show, so it only displays on my screen.

Any ideas?

Only displays on your screen? Could be a defunct screen, although I'm not sure if I understood that part correctly - otherwise I would suspect a drive error, try the latest driver from your video card manufacturer's website.

Basically, i can see it on my screen, but if i took a screenshot, the screenshot would show how it looks normally, without the problem.

I have latest drivers for my card already

If you run the game in Windowed mode, is Windows itself, around the window of the game, fuzzy too?

I'd suggest reinstalling or updating Direct X and your Video Driver.

Dont really play in Window Mode and wouldnt want to tbh lol.

Well my DirectX is Dx11, i could give gfx drivers another go i spose.

Well rather than not wanting to, why don't you go ahead and give it a try, to see if its freaking your entire display out, or just GW.

I think DX11 might be the problem, though. I think there is a way to force GW into running in DX9 mode.

When the problem occurs during Guild Wars, if i minimize it, the problem still exists on the desktop and any other file or game i load up its not just Guild Wars, its just it occurs only when playing Guild Wars.

Sounds like the link from the monitor and desktop is going bad, try getting a newer one.

I run dual moniters and sometimes when I move guild wars from one moniter to the other it gets kind of fuzzy. Turning off and turning the moniter back on or switching from windowed to full and back to windowed help. Obv by reading that you know I play in windowed but if you don't I don't know if it will help. I believe the reason it happens to me is because one moniter is bigger then the other and the size issue of it being windowed messes it up.

Could you try playing it in a lower resolution. That might help. If it happens only when playing guild wars but affects other things it sounds like an issue with the moniter as opposed to guild wars itself.

I really have no suggestions other then to share my story with you. Good luck I will do some research and see if I can find anything out.

Also, just before it goes fuzzy, the screen freezes for a split second then it happens. Also recently, sometimes after going fuzzy, the screen will go black, no picture but i have sound.

Most likely your monitor is dying, do you have a model or age?

Its a Laptop.

For some reason i dont think its the monitor, due to the fact i can play other high graphical games without problems..

I would say that your graphics chip, or some part involved in the display, has a "thermal" fault. (What graphics do you have btw?)
I know you say the temps are normal, but I would guess from your description, that some part of your graphics processor is failing because of heat. That isn't quite the same as "overheating" because the temp at which it fails may be normal - the part could be just bad, or it could be a bad solder joint. In this case, the part fails, or the joint opens at "normal" temperatures and then works again after it cools down.
You may be able to prevent it by reducing your graphics settings in GW, (to create less heat) but I would suggest you try to get the laptop replaced if it's under warranty.

nVidia mobile graphics chips have (or had) a reputation for failing. (Failures in Mac laptops are one of the untold secrets of Apple - they wouldn't want people to know Macs aren't perfect.

Could it be that the thermal paste has started going and doing damage to the chip? Thank god this isnt a Mac then

Not likely a problem with the paste - if the paste is un-disturbed it should be good.
The bad nVidia chip problem is not restricted to Macs, it can happen to any computer. As far as I know, the problem was due to either a bad thermal design or a bad batch, of nVidia chips. The problem has been corrected, but the only fix is a new chip.

Ok, will start looking for new chip, maybe 9 series models
