Default Qos - Quality of service Any one run it?
Just wonder if anyone bothers to run this? well first if you have a router that supports this. the one i have is a bit old and has something called "GameFuel"

it's always been a solid router and wifi. When i turn GF on i don't notice any real difference. Every so often I'll tweak it but i think the problem or what it really boils down to is the GW server I'm connecting to.

wonder what the community does or has any comments on it?

thanks in advance. Oh mods can move this if it belongs in the Hardware part of the Tech forums. wasn't sure.

QoS is also included in windows networking settings. I used to turn it off in XP, but I don't bother to in Vista. Basically, QoS and GF are designed to give priority to certain packets over others. This doesn't really affect much unless you have several things accessing the network/internet at the same time. For example, if you are running GW plus Ventrilo/Teamspeak and you have your browser and/or P2P client, or other things open, it may (theoretically) ensure that the data packets from GW and Vent/TS are taken care of before the other "background tasks" are - depending, of course, upon what the "active application" is at the moment.
QoS or GF may have a small affect upon your ping, but only if the ping is being held up by the priority of packets. Most of the time, with newer, more powerful cpus and NIC/LAN adapters, it has no real effect.
