Got Vertical Sync enabled? That caps FPS at your monitor's refresh rate.

Hi..I have the same problem...72 fps (using GTX 260 in SLI). Tried disabling vertical sync thru NVIDIA control panel. FPS stayed the same. Disabled "Wait for vertical sync" in GW options...now its at 433

If you run on a normal LCD monitor, you won't have a benefit of having more than 60 FPS, because they usually run with 60 hertz. Anything above that is just a waste, and can lead to screen tearing in the worst case. That's why V-Sync is there. I suggest you leave V-Sync on.

Besides, 70 FPS is more than enough to play it fluently.

Also, a 9800GTX+ (which I assume you have) will only have 512 MB or 1024 MB V-Ram. It can't have "1.7GB" of V-Ram due to it's Memory Bandwith of 256 Bit. The only cards I know of that have "1.7GB" are some special edition cards of the GTX260 and GTX270, which have 1792 MB.

Disble "Wait for VSync" or something like that in GW options. However, I don't see what's wrong with 70 FPS. I think the human eye can only process around 60 FPS anyway.

Besides, 9 to the power of 9 frames per second may seem godly but horizontal tearing is most lame...

60FPS just provides fluid like motion in games, particularly those without motion blur.

The 9800GT+ will likely get 70-90FPS in Guild Wars in newer areas or heavily populated areas. It isn't a powerhouse card compared to a GTX260 or better or ATi equivalent.

A 260 seems like overkill. I get ~140 with a 9800gtx+ but I do have AA turned off mostly 'cus I feel its the most useless graphic's feature after bloom...

Uh... of course a GTX260 is overkill for GW1. Hell, a 9800GT is overkill for GW.

Also, Anti Aliasing isn't useless, at all. It makes the picture so much clearer and removes SOOOO many jaggies if set for 4x. You have the card to do it, so you might as well turn it on.

I have an old 1.2 GHz Toshiba laptop that gets only 25 fps so the 70 I get with my home build PC (GeForce 9800 GT) or my HP DV7 seems plenty.

I lol'ed at the stupidity of this.

You have 3902848734874293 times more than enough punch to run x4AA on GW with that card. I have 3 9800GTX+ in my rig so I know what this card can and cannot do.

Having said that, why the hell would you purchase this card if you have no intention of using it? .....

mine is 60 fps since I use Vsync, I don't like to see tearing in frames when i play games, and the human eye cannot detect it anyway so why bother with 400+ fps.........lol.

It's also worth noting that the monitor only displays 60 fps (or whatever it's native vertical refresh rate is) whether vsync is turned on or not. So, regardless of what your eye can or cannot percieve, the monitor only refreshes 60 times per second.
It's also worth noting that the game can only update at a given rate depending upon your ping and the update rate of the server. So, running the GW game client at high fps really does nothing other than waste power and take processing cycles away from other tasks, such as Ventrilo, that you may want to run at the same time.
Also, of course, running the game at 60 fps with 4xAA and the graphics at max, is a lot better looking than 140 fps with stuff turned off.

The higher the resolution, the less AA will be useful. However, at 1920x1080, AA still makes a difference. It's less of a difference than at 1024x768 but it's still there.

Vertical Sync means it syncs the refresh rate of your monitor to the frame count. So if my monitor has a refresh rate of 60Hz, V-Sync will ALWAYS lower my FPS to 60 or less. It's a good option if you want fluidness of the image.

Also, you should ALWAYS have at least x2 AA. It really helps a lot. x4 is better obviously, but not as noticeable.
