Question Storage Visibility Issues

I've started playing Guild Wars on 2 different Windows 7 Ultimate machines in recent weeks. On both machines, slots in my inventory packs and Xunlai appear empty when they are not.

This is random, not all slots in a bag or Xunlai pane will appear empty and it's not the same slot (location) each time either. The number of slots that appear empty also varies, sometimes it's just a few, today it was nearly all of my inventory. It's impossible to tell when my inventory is full unless I roll over each space with my mouse or get a game message that states my inventory is full.

I have reinstalled the game on one of the two machines, downloading a completely new .dat file with the -image switch but it did not resolve the problem. Additionally, the graphics drivers on both machines are up to date. The only commonality I can identify is Win 7 Ultimate and this did not happen on the Windows XP machine I was playing on.

Any ideas about how I can remedy this?

The only thing i can think of is maybe its a DirectX 10 Issue? Not sure though.
Another thing im thinking is, i know that when i run texmod sometimes my graphics get glitchy. Simply minimizing then maximizing the window again solves it. Give that a go. Otherwise I'm not sure.

Are you running texmod? If so, stop that until you make sure things are displaying as they should. Next, check your video settings ingame. Are there any graphical issues outside of the storage panes? Gamma? Post-processing effects? etc. What version of Direct X are you running?

I know that when I first enter an outpost, if I call my storage panels up, they temporarily appear empty, but then display properly as long as 10 seconds later. Is it possible the same is true for you, or is your problem persistent?

I will double check later when I can get back to those machines but I'm 95% sure I'm running DirectX 11. I am not running TexMod. I do run KSMod but it still happens whether or not I start the game without it. No graphics issues otherwise, it's all good. Minimizing and restoring does not make a difference, nor does traveling through portals with the inventory open or closed.

The items do not eventually appear and the same slot might not be blank in a different gaming session. For example, I have a truffle in my Xunlai. One day the space appears blank but mousing over indicates the truffle is there even though it never appears, even if I've accessed the Xunlai a number of times in a gaming session. The next session/day I login and the truffle is visible in the same space but something else in the same pane is invisible.

On my previous gaming computer (2006) I had problem where I played with my graphics card settings (ATi catalyst control) and it made all my inventory icons appear very low resolution and quality (but the game looked fine). I'd suggest going into your graphics card control panel and try resetting it to defaults.

I've been running Win 7 Ultimate for months and have never had any graphics-related issues with GW.

It could be a DirectX related issue. You've elimimated GW itself and graphics drivers as the possible problem. You also mentioned that you did not have this problem with XP,which is DirectX 9.0.Perhaps installing the latest DirectX 9.0c(June10)update will help.

Yes, it's definitely DirectX 11 that is installed on Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm completely mystified why this is happening on two different laptops, one of which has a new GW install. They are two very different machines; one a brand new HP dv7, the other a 2+ year old MacBook Pro that dual boots to Windows 7. Both have up-to-date video drivers and I have a 25mbps/25mbps Verizon FiOS connection... so not much in the way of lag unless aNet or the route along the way has issues, which is certainly frequent enough. The only commonality is Windows 7 Ultimate and the DirectX version, and I use the same mouse on both machines, a Razer Death Adder.
