Default Trackpad Issues with GW.

So, I'm running GW on a MacBook Pro with BootCamp. My Windows OS is Windows XP. I have two-finger click enabled as a right click command. This works in every application except for Guild Wars.

When I two-finger click and drag to change my camera angle from within the client, my character starts running, despite the fact that I have "Disable Mouse Walking" checked in the General Options.

So, I have no way to change the tilt of my camera, and I'm stuck trying to play from a top-down view, which is really difficult. Are there any other BootCamp users who have figured out a way to camera tilt? I don't want to buy a mouse right now, but I will resort to that if there is no other way.

tl;dr:
-Have trackpad, no right-click function from within Guild Wars
-Twofinger right click works fine outside of Guild Wars
-Twofinger click-dragging (which should change cam angle) causes my character to run, even with mouse walking disabled.
-What do?

inb4: lol Macfag, buy a mouse.

I think your issue is with the multi-touch features of the trackpad. These features are optimized for Snow Leopard not Windows.

I would say your only option to possibly have it work properly would be to update from Windows XP to Windows 7 due to there might be an updated driver for the trackpad for Windows 7. Suggesting this because a lot of the multi-touch features will ONLY work under Snow Leopard so people running Leopard and/or Tiger would of had to update their operating systems also.

Personal recommendation would be to purchase a mouse. You can get a basic mouse for $10-15 in most cases, or if you wanted to get a gamer grade mouse you can pick up one from $50-100.

Btw, I work on both PCs and Macs for a living so I seeing compatibility issues like this all the time. Hope this helps.

As someone who also plays guildwars on bootcamp I can tell you that this is a pain no matter what windows OS you use. Right now I'm using Windows 7 and its just as big of a problem.

And yes the best option is honestly to buy yourself a mouse. I know you may not want to but honestly it works best, especially if you pvp (where you really should use click to move). I personally bought a razer orochi mouse and it works great. Its well worth the money to buy a good mouse and id really recommend it.

I have a standard windows laptop with a trackpad and i'll be honest with you its really hard playing gw on that, let alone adding apple into the equation.

You really are better off with a mouse and lets be honest, it doesn't have to be amazing and you can get a standard usb optical mouse on ebay for £3... not exactly bank breaking

Here's a good one for example: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HELLO-KITTY-NO...item33620c0659

Have you ever actually used the trackpad on a macbook pro? I honestly can't believe you have because of your comment about apple. Lets just be honest here... apple by far has the best touch technology(not just in their trackpads but on Iphones, Ipods, and Ipads). Go into an apple store and play around with the trackpad and its use of finger gestures to perform different functions. Seriously i dare you... I guarantee you will realize how much better their trackpads are. Sorry to get off topic, but all the senseless apple hate is really stupid.

I have to agree with Silverhand on this one, Apple's trackpads are vastly superior to their PC counterparts. Anyone who questions this needs to go into an Apple store and see for themselves.

I used to share Ku Ku's opinion before I started working with Apple computers on a daily basis. The attention to detail that Apple has is pretty darn amazing.

As far as mice are concerned, haven't used a razor that much but would recommend a Logitech G500. Been using one for about a year now, which replaced my G5 and have been very happy with it.

Does Apple have better touchpads? Sure Does trying to game with a touchpad = total epic fail? Definitely Point is, no matter how good a touchpad you have, they are not meant to game with and a $5 Mouse from the local dollar store will work better. I'd even give you one of the half dozen that I have in the drawer of my desk if you give me your address. (USA only of course).

I think you misunderstood him. At least, the way I understood it was that using a trackpad is hard, and if you add apple compatibility issues into the equation, then it's even harder.

Yep, go with a mouse all the way. No matter what trackpad you have, it still won't be optimal for gaming. You can get by with the trackpad, but why get by when getting a mouse is cheap and simple enough.

As far as apple trackpads go, i haven't used them much so i can't really comment on how responsive they are, only that there is a rather wide variation in laptop trackpads. I've used some that were pretty responsive and others that weren't so much.

EDIT: No matter how responsive, playing on a trackpad was a pain in every case.
