I'm not really sure what the problem is. I can log into the character select screen and pick a character to play. Then the loading screen comes up and says connecting and the bar is at 0%. Once or twice it actually loaded but then if I mapped anywhere it would just stay at 0%. None of these places are new areas either; I've downloaded all the files and what not. Any ideas what this problem could be?

If it stays at 0%, it sounds like a connection problem.

Alt+Tab out of the game and see if you have a window about a guild wars error or such. I've seen this when the game was actually crashing because some onboard graphics card didn't have the right shader support for certain outposts, but with that error you will see a notice/window if you alt+tab out to the desktop and then look on your taskbar for it.

I never play the game in full screen and I don't see any other windows open while the loading screen is there. Is this just an issue of my router/modem crapping out on me? I can browse the internet just fine but the game refuses to load at all.

It's not just you - I'm having problems connecting to the game right now myself. I log in but keep getting the "Connecting" message.
