Default Guild Wars AR Test

Hi all,

Please look this video:

The problem is, we use autodesk for make the character with the correct textures, but when we use the plugin for convert it to .ive format to use it in augmented reallity program, some textures are transparent :S

Anyone knows why? or any idea? >_<

That is truly awesome. It sort of reminds me of movies with high-end technology in it that do similar effects like this (such as in Star Wars with the handhelp 3D communicators).

On-topic: Sorry... I really have no idea so I can't be of any help.

Sorry have no idea why it's transparent.

Now if Anet sees that, maybe it will be the new "minipets" of GW2,
collect and print out patterns that will unlock hidden 3D-augmented figures
Fully animated of course.

ok please correct me if i am wrong but for those asking the future questions etc.: what you see on the video is not reality but actually appears on computer screen and is recorded with a webcam of some sort. in reality he only holds that square plastic thingie and spins it around on the desk and the augmented reality software adds the 3D projection on the screen while in real life it's still just an empty piece of plastic. i hope that is understandable enough for atlease tome ppl here. i am not an expert but i used some of the keywords in first post and combined them with google and now i'm trying to make life easier for some of you guys i would still like the original author of this topic to confirm if i understood the whole concept correctly

WOW, that is simply awsome.

Now, to address your question. I have no experence with AR but years ago I use to build afew 3D models exporting each frame to be a frame of an animated GIF. What background color did you set to be transparent? The reason I asked is that some areas are fully transparent others are ghostlike. I hope this helps.

GW has funky alpha channel usage.
For some textures alpha is transparency; for some it's reflectiveness; and for some it's a hybrid of the two (I think high byte reflectiveness and low byte transparency).
My guess is that your autodesk plugin or whathaveyou is interpreting the alpha strictly as transparency, which is going to be wrong in 2 out of 3 cases. Hence the transparent textures where you wanted reflective textures. Same problem occurs with texmod if you're not careful about the alpha channel.

Hi everybody!
well... I'm thw owner of the vid (i cant let's do this to a friend ¬¬ :3)
the most important thing............
IM NOT SCRATCHING MY EGGS ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ it's just my leg...
ONTOPIC:
i'm not an expert of autodesk and i only used to build the pj correctly and then transform it to augmented reality. i put each texture in the correct shader
and all fine, then when i convert the most of the textures turns transparent.
tomorrow i gonna see if I can fix alpha problem (probably i wouldn't do nothing but i will try xD)
PD: tichi, your right
