Angry Unable to Patch

Well, the dervish update seems to have brought on a lot of mirth and frustration in the community. Even as a mesmer-player by nature, I was pretty excited to see all of the interesting new changes. Unfortunately, I am sliding from the realm of joyful into the land of vexed.

The past two patches (the second one on Thursday and the one today) have caused some sort of problem that neither Guild Wars nor I could resolve sort of a full re-installation. Strangely the initial massive dervish patch caused no troubles. I have tried repairing the file, deleting the .tmp file, and now I am reinstalling the whole game for a second time. Is anyone else having this problem and is there another option short of a total reinstall every bloody time I have to patch?

Thanks in advance.

I keep the original GW install file in a folder on my desktop. Many times I have had errors when installing the updates. When I get an error, I just do a quick reinstall. No need to delete any files, just run the GW install file. It corrects the errors and loads the game in just a few minutes.

Thanks, Perkunas! I'll give that a shot the next time this happens (which hopefully won't be for a while).

I just back up the entire game folder to another hard disk every few months, I hate long reinstalls and updates.

I had the same issue and prior to a full re-install I ran gw.exe with elevated permissions (ie. run as administrator) The patch went through perfectly after that and I've had no problems since. Don't know what caused the issue, but it's not happening anymore. Hope this helps to ease the stress for anyone else. Happy Gaming!
