And failing miserably.

For clarification, I bought the Guild Wars Trilogy directly from the in-game store and had no trouble playing it. However, now I want to tie it to my new Steam account, since I wan most of my games to be linked there.

However, I can't do that, because for some reason I can't view my complete access key. Whenever I log into my NCSoft master account and look at the game subscriptions, the first four groups of the alpha-numerical characters in the access key are 'X' characters, with only the fifth group actually visible. Obviously, this code is rejected by Steam when I try to activate the game over there.

And now comes the question -- who do I have to contact to get my full access key? And why on earth is it hidden in my own damned account, especially since no one else could use it, even if they knew it. ><

You're probably the only people who can help. Searches over the web lead me only to scam sites that claim to be selling GW access keys.

I don't think you can.... (add a non-steam purchased account to steam).

You can make a shortcut to GW in the Library: - Games - Add a new game to my library.

Go into your game library in Steam then right-click on one of the the Guild Wars games and choose View Forum. Near the top of the forum is is sticky post giving instruction on how to link the games to your NCSoft master account.

tip: having problems with any steam purchase first check the Steam online forum for that game for a possible solution.

Actually you can in some cases add games to steam like this. I can't think of any great examples here at work, but I' ve done it once our twice. Ncsoft mmos don't do it though.

You are correct, however in that he can only add gw to his steam library via the add a non steam game option. Not a huge issue since steam can't update gw anyways.

As Arduin says. GW is not a Steamworks game and it cannot be added to Steam.

The best you can do is add a shortcut to it from within Steam. This is what I do.

The only way to have it in Steam is to buy it from Steam.

you cant add it to steam if you bought it from ncsoft.. BUT... you can add a non-steam game shortcut by clicking the button in the bottom left hand corner of the steam client if you only want to include GW just for having all your games in one place.
