If it is a desktop PC, try opening the side case and dusting out the system with compressed air if you notice a large amount of dust build-up (particularly the CPU and graphics card fans. do the power supply fan as well if you can).

The GeForce 9200 is a very low-end card. Most likely you have the graphics cranked up too high and are overheating the card. Knock the graphics settings down a bit, or better yet, get a "real" video card.

Then its either the game can't run on your machine and the computer needs upgrading OR its that the drivers are out of date

Your computer specifications are fine, you can run Guildwars on less than 1GB RAM and manage lag free. I think it rather has to do with the following:

I recommand 5 things:

1) Check no downloading program is in effect of any kind..torrents and ect...
2) Check that your antivirus views gw as a friendly program.
3) Check that your firewall views gw as a friendly program.
4) Check that gw is in a folder with extra free space, tight folder make programs move slow. Try to install on "D:" rather on "C:".
5) If step 1-4 wont work, try to remove the dat file from the computer. Go to guildwars.com site and re-download the client.

Good Luck.

Disagree w. comments about update drivers.
I had massive problems w. nvidia cards after the latest batch of MS updates which first hit at around 18.04.
Swapped out both cards for ATI and have blocked all MS updates.
It got so bad that 1 system had to be re-installed and the other rescued back to XP SP1. Everything is now to XP SP3 w. basic drivers, no daft 3rd party control panels etc. Works so far ...
Nvidia and Micsodaft should put some heads together instead of banging users against walls

You're welcome.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of humor, but you knew that.
Just don't use Nvidia.

Don't buy alienware, they are really overpriced. If you want a decent gaming PC for a good price I would recommend something like cyberpowerpc.com. You can choose exactly what you want, and it doesn't cost much more then building one yourself. I remember reading something a couple years ago that said on average you only pay 5% more then a DIY build through that company, not sure if that is still true.

After re-reading this, it also sounds like the old lock-up problem that some quad-core's used to have. If so, it's basically a driver conflict issue. make sure all your drivers - video, chipset, sound - and Windows, are up to date. Even then, it may take a few Windows updates to clear up.

You may want to run SpeedFan to make sure the GPU isn't overheating. If it is, you could try increasing the fan speed with RivaTuner or similar GPU tweaker.

I'm sorry but that's just nonsense.

I bet a lot of people (probably about half of all players) are using nvidia cards without any issues.
