Need Help starting-up GW
After a long time of not playing GW, I started the program again, just for good ol' times.
When the start-up screen appears, I get an error. The first screen works properly(where it downloads new files) The second screen fails(the one that wants to connect to arenanet) I get the following notification: Unable to Install The installer could not write Guild Wars to the specified directory. Please check that you have administrative acces, that you have permission to install programs in the specified directory and that there is sufficient space available on the drive. What? I'm the only user of this computer, so ofcourse I have administrative acces. And I have permission to write on it, cuz I can install any other game I want. And I check my space everyday, over 1 TB left, so that can't be the problem either. Any thoughts on what to do now? Have you tried running the installer as Administrator? (By right clicking and selecting the option)
Presumably you're on Windows Vista/7? This has specific restrictions in place to stop programs writing to the C drive and as Guild Wars hasn't been designed for this OS in mind it doesn't check/ask for permission before attempting to write to C:\ where as other installs are probably ok. |

I need a password for administrator Installing, which I dont have/know?
Plus im on XP, don't know if that makes a difference. But I have played GW on this very computer for over 3 years, so I don't understand why its giving me such a hard time now.. unable to write to my documents hmm, sure you have enough disk space on C?
Don't see why else it would whine about it. Also make sure you are logged in on a admin account. |
