Default Guild Wars error "Assertion Failed"

So lately I've noticed some particularly erratic behavior by Guild Wars, and I figured I'd share it here in the hopes that someone else might know what's going on here. Up until a few days ago, Guild Wars had been working just fine with no problems whatsoever.

However, now when I run Guild Wars, I get a popup that says "Assertion Failed" ... the game sometimes gets as far as the main screen, but will crash to desktop almost instantly.

I believe this is a problem with the GW.dat file, as this "Assertion Failed" error occurs even if I use the "-image" switch, and occurs even if *just* the GW loader is running.

Unfortunately this is the 2nd time I've had to reinstall Guild Wars. I'm getting a little tired of deleting my GW.dat file every week. Does someone know if there's a fix for this? I've tried just about every combination... running with different versions of DirectX, changing the compatiblity mode to "Windows XP SP2/SP3" ... nothing is working

Can anyone help me?

Reinstall the latest Microsoft .NET Framework, it seems yours is outdated and causing instability issues with drivers
