Default Guild Wars randomly disconnecting

Hi I've been plying guild wars for a long time. After the dervish makeover and the 7 hero update... I have been randomly been disconnecting from the game A LOT. Now I know its not my comp because I can run any other game just fine. It isn't my internet because I could log onto it during the d/c.

The game just freezes. There isn't any lag before it does either. It doesn't even pop up a disconnection notice. I task manager close it to force a d/c, then it keeps saying connecting at the log in screen. when I finally can get back on, about twenty min later, I'm kicked out of the area I was in. Normally, I wouldnt have cared... but this is the THIRD time its happened in FoW, which I'm using to get my survivor, and I've come too close to losing it because of this.... I'm really frustrated with this and it has never happened before that update... I need to know if this is a common thing, and what I can do, if anything, to fix this.

Yeah it's happened to me too, the game just suddenly freezes, or something of the sort, I can turn my toon 360 degrees, but he can't move, I don't get any communications eventually I have to close the client. After that I try to log on again, and it the status stays on connecting. It might not be 20min for me, but it sure does take more than 5min (yeah I agree I am an impatient person). This did occur after the derv and embark beach update.

Yup. This same exact thing has been happening to me. Do any of you have Comcast by chance? I sent an email to support, they made me run a couple tests then just said it was Comcast. Even though my internet connection is fine. I can watch movies, load pages, etc, without any problem. So I think it's something to do with the GW servers. Hopefully if they get enough emails they'll get this problem fixed, whatever it is.

This may be related to the ongoing connectivity issue which was also tied into the missing guilds/guild hall issue. There are several related threads (look for topics about being unable to connect to the GW website, wiki or game, and about losing guilds/guild halls) which can help understand the overall problem.

Two things you can try... first, try switching to a European district and playing. See if you're able to stay on in areas/situations where you normally would find yourself disconnected if you'd started from an American district.

Second, you can try getting a new IP from your ISP. Depending on their setup, you might be able to achieve this by disconnecting your modem and router (or computer) for 5 minutes, or by doing it for at least 8 hours (like overnight). Failing that, you can try changing the MAC address of your router - but I would not advise that unless you already know how to do it, why it would potentially help and what the ramifications of doing so might be. In other words, if you need to Google it, please don't try doing it. Instead, call your ISP and ask them if they can release the lease on your IP address and issue a new one.

You can check what your IP is by going to whatsmyip.org

The problem seems to be with how some players are pathed into the game server... this isn't actually a problem on the player's end, or even on ANet/NCSoft's end specifically. It seems to be happening in one of the hops that sends each connection into the servers. If a player is routed across the bad hop, they're having issues. Unfortunately, that's not something your ISP or ANet/NCSoft controls... it's an issue with one of the peers.

Happens to me and guildies/alliance members/friends on a regular basis (it seems uncommon for a full party to actually make it into a zone on the first try nowdays.)

Okay i do not have Comcast, and I have reset my IP, and I mostly play off of Euro and Asia Districts. So I really doubt its those.

There is something definitely wrong with the Guild Wars servers. I have had a ticket open for over a week now and the last response I got from support told me to download an experimental program to test my ping with aion. lolwut? In my last response I clearly said my game is guildwars. ANet is quite dodgy lately.

Disconnect, disconnect, disconnect. Nothing but it. Happened after the Embark Beach and 7 hero update. Idk what the problem is. But, it's annoying. T_T

Atleast twice a day I'm disconnecting. With very little hope of connecting back to save a run I'm in. And, I know for a fact it's not my internet. Because, when I play gw and disconnect... My ventrilo is working just fine. Please, anet. I beg you. Fix this. T_T
