Default Annoying and strange happenings with the Alt key

Ok - I just can't work this out....

If I am holding the ALT key down and the up arrow down at the same time, I obviously move forward.

If I then press the left arrow down with these two keys held down, it has no effect, but presing the right key down with these keys pressed has the corect effect, and the char starts moving right.

Now if I am moving backwards with the ALT key held down, both the left at right arrows move the character as desired.

So bascally I have 3 combinations working, and one not.

If I don't have ALT held down, all arrow combinations works as desired.

Also if I use W, A, S, D then all combinations work correctly.

Any ideas?

Could be because another program you are using could have a hotkey/shortcut using ALT+^+< ?

All of said combination's work on my computer, and I'm sure there's no windows hot keys using those shortcuts nor any programs.

Just a thought, that's about all I can think of. I do have problems sometimes when I click too many keys at once though, the computer beeps.

check your hotkey settings in guildwars to see what they are set to.

I am sure no other program is using ALT ^< as a hotkey, and all the keyboard settings seem fine.....

also I have just opened my other account and the same happens - seems it must be a PC/Keyboard issue?

I used to have the exact same problem on a really old computer, older computers sometimes have problems when holding a certant key combination, particularly with the arrow keys. But there could always be another explanation for your problem like another key being stuck, on some keyboards (Microsoft -cough-) the Shift key can become stuck.

So... use W, A, S, D. Mystery not solved, but all will still be right with the universe.

It has nothing to do with software. It's the keyboard. Some retarded keyboards won't work with certain keys pressed at the same time. I remember I had some NFS game and I needed ALT for NOSboost and I couldn't steer right. Not long after it, the keyboard broke down, got a new one and it was fixed. It only seems to be with the ALT and arrows keys though...

yes its called IRQ interrupt. Just plug in some gaming keyboards, some allow for 10 simultaneous key presses without interrupts.

Well that explains all of it, too bad I'm not willing to spend a ton on gaming keyboards.

Oh well, it is very rare if ever that I get problems with keys, so I'm not too worried.

Sorry to go digging this one up, but I get the same issue now, and it's definitely keyboard-related. I recently switched over from an old MX5500 Logitech keyboard/mouse combo to a G700 Logitech mouse and a Razer Lycosa keyboard. Ok so Razer is a gaming brand but this isn't a gaming keyboard. It lights up different letters independently (WASD) for games, but has no added function keys for application-specific (gaming) use. Obviously the MX5500 keyboard was better or smarter for this game because the retarded Lycosa does the same thing as described by the OP. Is there a way to disable the interrupt used by the keyboard, if it fixes it? I'm so used to the arrow keys and I'm not a big fan of the WASD layout.
