ugh, I've been having a ton of lag the last two days. I'm rubber banding too hard to perma and having lag spikes too frequently to be of use as a healer in missions. -_-

ping is jumping from the 100's to around 2000 pretty frequently.

my FPS is fine, but I think that's more to do with graphics cards.

*sigh* Still having bad lag, highest I have seen it is 80,000ms which needless to say is making the game unplayable.

I tried to start game up again after a long break when I logged on the lag spikes where so terrible and never went away to a point my character just runs in slow motion so unable to play the game at all. I have no issues with my interent connection because i can play 5 other mmo's with no issues at all. i am not sure what is happening never had this issue before. I am also playing the game on Vista if that has anything to do with it.

FPS: Bouncing between 38 and 60
Last Ping: 78 ms
Average Ping: 215ms

Loads of rubber banding and lag bubbles. Really bad today. Trying to get from House Zu Heltzer to Saint Anjekas Shrine was painful.

I've been having very bad lag problems in the past half year and it's only getting worse.

My problem:

After zoning in an area, either it will be all nice and dandy with a good ping (about 70ms), or it will freak out entirely and be constant really high ping, that can range from 700 ms to 5000ms or even unresponsive. (the ping usually stays at the same area)

I mainly do RA PvP, so int he main RA map, I usually would get the normal ping, then in the Arena maps, I would randomly get either the normal good ping, or 3k, or 1k, or 5k, or total lag out. I have literally no idea what's causing this and it's making the game unplayable.
I don't have this phenomenon on any other game.
I just believe that they have cut drastically on the server maintenance to be honest, which is bs.

I contacted the support, went through all the steps they could offer me, and now they said they're going to escalate my problem and I'm waiting for an answer.

Plain ridiculous.

I wonder if they are scaling it back and reducing the number of servers used? That could be why this lag is becoming such an issue, that coupled with people trying to save money and coming back because of no monthly.

Imagine if all the people playing WOW jumped ship and came here, can you say fried servers! I have a feeling it's going to get alot worse.

For the past 3-4 weeks i have been experiancing unbarable, constant lagg spikes (the rest of my internet usage is fine, its just gw) Pings ranging from 63ms - 80,000ms, mostly in the range of 1,000-10,000, my FPS jumping around everywhere. BUT, it seems to happen mostly in outposts. It does sometimes happen in explorables but most of the time its fine there. With all the lagg whenever i try to change districts/go into an explorable/go to gh or another town, it disconnects me with error 007. (sometimes i make it there, but mostly i d/c.) This makes the game totally unjoyable.
Any tips?
Im just glad im not alone on this.

For the past 5-6 days I have been having consistent latency issues. The first two days it was onlyduring the peak times of 7-11pm, but since it has been occuring constantly. The game will allow me to connect, but within around 5 minutes the latency will gradually start to increase. Going from 100-200-400-1000 until evenually reaching 20-50k ms and then error 7'ing out. After that point the game will allow me to log in, but little else. Time will slow and it'll be error 7'ing again.

My location is also England, and I've noticed that steam also appears to not be connecting.

Had Horrible game stopping lag, and err 7 that varies on the time of day for 3-4 weeks now. Pings and traceroutes to the servers seem fine. But atm avg ping is 28K

It does seem to vary where I am in game, as remote outposts are better, but HA, great temple and Kamdan are no go areas.

No changes on my system and it's easily able to run GW. I'm in the UK on virgin ADSL(which is fine on everything else)

Interesting I'm on Virgin ADSL (in England) too. Still having problems, just contacted Virgin through their online chat system and they say my connection is fine (they did get me to drop my MTU to 1430 but it didn't make any difference). I have also tried using openDNS and that didn't make any difference. They say there is nothing more they can do and ANet support say there is nothing they can do. Guess I will just have to stop playing GW then.

Yesterday wasn't so bad (was a bit high but playable) today it's gone back to unplayable.

Happens since a year of the launch of this game. Connecting from Poland, Telia fault. Average pings depending on the time of the day and server load from 150 to ~400ms. Renders me completely useless in participating in any form of mid-high level pvp. Sudden jump in lag kills you as flagger, makes you useless as infuse monk, makes you unable to sync-kill someone or even interrupt 1s casting skill. Yup, one of primary reasons I've given up on any form of pvp and then retired altogether. When I bought the game I had fantastic average ping of 40-50 and never had a ping above 120. It got worse with factions, unbearable with nightfall and almost the same with eotn. I'm indifferent now.

Pin pointing the issue by posting tracerts to the GW server you are suffering from would help the cause faster/easier. I can't believe a thread like this is stickied without basic information consisting within the posts. Just providing a simple tracert can reveal ISP related problems, or hubs/links outside of the ISP network.

http://www.windowsnetworking.com/art...g-Tracert.html

Now, to use tracert, you simply need to open a command prompt. To do this, go to

Start => Run => CMD => tracert

(note – you must type tracert, as you can see traceroute only works on UNIX/Linux and other systems such as Cisco, etc)

In the following example of the tracert command and its output, the packet travels through two routers (as seen in the last illustration) to get to host 10.1.1.6. In this example, the default gateway from Site B is 10.1.2.1 and the IP address of the router on the WAN via the T1 and ISDN links (respectively) are 192.168.11.1 and 192.168.10.1.

Lets first see what it should look like using the T1.

C:\>tracert 10.1.1.6
Tracing route to 10.1.1.6 over a maximum of 30 hops
---------------------------------------------------
1 2 ms 3 ms 2 ms 10.1.2.1
2 25 ms 83 ms 88 ms 192.168.11.1
3 25 ms 79 ms 93 ms 10.1.1.6

Trace complete.

tracert (insert ip, [a GW server])

I went through exactly the same procedure as you!
I am also with Virgin ADSL (England too) virgin says my connection is fine.. there is nothing wrong with it, i also dropped my MTU yet no difference what so ever.
ANET also said there is nothing they can do to help, and pointed me towards contacting my ISP..
And yes, connection works fine everywhere else. It hasnt been as bad as it was before, but its starting to come back.
Sigh...

Been having problems sense about last tues. or wed. (6/2/09) and it hasent let up yet. I can usually load the game...eventually, but it takes 3 or 4 tries. Average casting time for skills is anywhere from 7 to 10 sec. on a 1 sec cast skill. (not pretty.) I usually play between the hours of 8 pm to around 3 or 4 am (u.s. central time), not non stop, but those are the average hours Im on. I usually play in international or Korean dist, less people and chatter and less loading time. But I have a sin sitting in the GH just waiting to have inventory emptied. I cant hardly even sell to the merchant its so bad. It let up for about 2 hours last night, (1 am to about 3 am) but its back to how it was 3 days ago again today. Live in central U.S. area.
BTW, I did all the posted procedures and stuff on the first post, and it didnt change anything.
Connection works fine anywhere else. Have no internet issues. Have no viruses or malware.
