Default Any more character wipes planned?

Does anyone know if our current Beta characters will carry over to the final launch version of GW? I'm concerned because Guildwars.com states:

"For the first two Beta Weekend Events, with start dates of November 6th and December 4th, your World Preview Event characters will be intact, with their names, levels, and items in place. At some point in the future there will be a character wipe, resetting each character to Level 1. At that time, providing you have been a Beta Weekend Event participant, your character names will be preserved for you into release of Guild Wars."

I don't want to lose any more sleep if all that time is going to be erased anyway.

Thanks

ArenaNet has your answer:

Why was there a character reset last month and none this month?

We only reset when such a thing is absolutely essential. Last month we needed to do one because of the nature of the new content. This month, we did not reset, and our plan is that we will do not more resets connected with Beta Weekend Events. Just prior to the release of Guild Wars, we will do one final reset in order to allow every player to start the game on a level playing field. Those who obtain early access via the Guild Wars Preorder will, of course, keep all that they attain in the period of their early access.
Shamelessly ripped from here.

They may wipe again before release if they feel there is a need to, but there aren't any plans for it.

Whats really lame is it states that we get to keep all that we attain. But if we are all level one we have to tote around a bunch of stuff in our inventory til we get to the required level??

I pray that we stay at our level and we keep our stuff. I think they will be surprised by the numbers of pre-orders.

I was under the impression that on release everyone is reverted to a level 1 character with only your level 1 starting equipment. The only things we get to keep are our guilds and our names. So if you want a specific name in retail, reserve it now (err, during the next BWE at least).

I am almost certain that the only thing that will carry over into release is your character's name. Everything else will be wiped and you'll start over with that character, your starter skills, and the one item you got for pre-ordering the game.

They will wipe on the 26th. Preorder can start playing with there beta code the 27th and items gear will hold over to release date the 28th. At least this is what I would assume/understand from it.

Here is a easy way to find out. Ask... Anyone here for the last wipe? What happened exactly?

Just a level exp reset, or did you loose Everything.. IE gold, belts bags, items attaind, weapons in inventory, clothing.. ect... I would imagine the same would happen again, using the same technique as that time.

Anyone willing to answer that?

Personally I would like to see just lvl and exp reset, But not lose my items. especially my special bow I got for preordering the game from EB games.

Ingram or Haz

Default General Questions...

I have some questions, I was brand new to the game on the Beta Weekend for February 2005 I really enjoyed the game overall: The first question is probably very simple, when you enter into a Guild, how do you unenroll from that Guild, I had that question asked by another player character?

The second question is on items, and weapons that are customized to your character, you can not sell them, can you salvage them?... I did not try that yet.

Third and last, this game has something in it for everyone, the large maps for each area are wonderous, and hold much adventure along the way. I enjoyed the inset map area, where if you did not want to spend the time to tranverse the Old Country then you could click on the point of orgin you wanted to go to and it would take you there... Could you all, when the programs and data is downloading possibly add a short story of GuildWars main cities, and who the main peoples are the places we are adventuring? Just an idea... oh, and graphics on the skins page for downloading is great also... artwork is impressive. Peace.

In a reset you lose all items, skills, exp, Fame, gold...pretty much everything except your char name, professions, and probably guild (I don't know if they decided whether to wipe guilds for release or not).

There are some differences from when we last had a wipe. The new bag system wasn't there, but I'm betting we will only get the regular backpack to start with after the wipe for release. We still had the old starter skills after the last wipe, but with the new tutorial we may start with no skills. Same goes for the secondary profession, you will likely have to pick your secondary again.

Items definately won't be saved at all. There's a chance that you will be holding an item with currently impossible stats if they didn't wipe items. Don't worry about your special item from the pre-order, I'm sure those items will be waiting on your account/char when the game goes live.

This is referring to the one day head start the pre-order folks will get. Anyone with a pre-order will be able to start playing on the 27th (or whatever date), so all the stuff they do will carry over on the 28th when the game has its offical release. They certainly didn't mean anything you do in the BWE will be carried over on the release of the game.

Outside of the release, there are no wipes currently planned. Not that there definately won't be one. Just know that if there is a wipe, its because its needed for better testing.

I also see it as a great time to choose your main charcter well. Gives us the oppurtunity to try out the different classes and how to build them properly. the build guides are out there but someone will always figure out the best build for each class and playing style. I cant wait for the next BWE!!!

guilds had to be remade after the last wipe so i would assume that the same would go for the next one.

for me the guild wipe had nothing to do with the char wipe...
guild wipe - new way to create a guild
chat wipe - new inventory / item concept

as the next beta will be pre-order/friend pass only, i dont believe in a new WIPE, just an clean up of the non-pre-order guilds...
