My guess is that they will start early. Last time at The Guild Hall we had 300 posts in one thread in less than half an hour after the event was supposed to start. People were freaking out (me included), that something was wrong.

Gaile Gray posted about 45 minutes into the chaos that they would be up within the hour - and they made it. So, I think they are going to try to be a little ahead of the game and open a little early.

When will the next event start ? Do you have this link bookmarked ?

http://www.msu.edu/~nordhou1/gw/countdown.html

I just had to post it. Maybe somebody would ask ?

How many hours delay ? Maybe early ? The announcement is approximately midnight...

My guess is right on time.

When did they announce the Midnight start time? I thought I had looked earlier today and the BWE info still said Friday morning.

Edit: the BWE FAQs still say friday morning while the actual news says 12:01 am. How long has this news been up?

Thanks to everyone who participated in this month's Beta Weekend Event. We have received a great deal of excellent feedback and a number of productive suggestions and bug reports via our fansite forums. We will review this input as we prepare for the next milestone. We hope to see you during the new Beta Weekend Event, which begins March 18th at approximately Midnight PST.

From www.guildwars.com.

Unless I have missed an update ?

edit :
Guild Wars Preorder & Events FAQ

When does the Beta Weekend Event begin?

The next Beta Weekend Events will start Friday morning, March 18th, and Friday morning, April 15th. Please watch www.guildwars.com for more information.

Well, 12:01 AM PST is Friday Morning. The difference in this announcement is the word APPROXIMATELY from previous BWE.

Right ?

I'd guess a few hours late - pretty much par for the course at this point. They have a lot of server updating to do at the last minute, as always, and something will go wrong / take a bit longer, which will push the launch back a couple hours.

Peace,

Things never seem to be right on time, there may be a few last tweeks at the last second that kind of thing. Besides I've heard that their working on something rateher big over last week and I have no idea where they are right now, but it has sloved them up a bit. Besides i've been sitting here waiting with a itchy mouse finger in antisipation. Besides out here I can't start till 1:00 am

----- 4 days 3hrs and counting -----

You have to also remember that these were only supposed to be two (2) day events. Friday was included out of kindness, to account for time zone differences.

Well, since friday morning I have to be at school anyway, and the computer is in my parents room so I couldn't play at midnight anyway, it dont really matter to me as long as it's up by 4:00 pm, but ill put my money on midnight, just because.

I always wondered, myself, why they do midnight openings of the game- when everyone should be sleeping. Then I remember, oh wait! These are programmers we're talking about. Their internal clocks are probably set to Tokyo Time, so midnight is nothing.

That, or they're just nocturnal by nature.

Anyway, I'm thinking either on time, or an hour or two late. There's always something in a thing like this that pops up at the lost moment, something that needs immediate fixing... It's good old Murphy's Law.

I know it's not realistic, and it actually won't make much of a difference for me since I won't be able to start playing right at midnight since I have school the next day, but I would like to hope that it would start early. But as long as there is no total server crash and the event is cancelled, I'll be fine. It'll be a little boring over the weekend though, because I took off of work until Tuesday just so I could play this one...

It's so that Asians like me get to play the game on Friday evening. We already miss most of the last day of BWE's because it'll be Monday (work) by then.

I'm actually hoping that it will start right on time.. but deep down I think it will be a little bit late. These last couple of events they seem to have so much last minute stuff to do. I just wonder why they don't take care of that kind of thing earlier in the day.. *sigh* I miss the good old days when they would start the event like half a day early.

Y'know, with that crack about Tokyo Time in my post, I'm surprised I didn't think of that. Must be a lack of coffee...

Right ?
Wrong. It's always been approximately. In January, the never said anything beyond "Friday morning", and indeed at close to 2:30 AM PST they were over 9 1/2 hours earlier than they promised, although some people who weren't paying attention falsely accused them of being nearly 2 1/2 hours late.

In February they also said that, like in January, they would probably not start at 12:01 on the nose, just like in January, but they'd try to be a little earlier, and indeed they were. Again, people freaked out because apparently they're functionally illiterate (i.e. they can read, they just don't).

I expect we'll see the same thing again this month, simply because the average person is incapable of learning from their past mistakes and can't quite wrap their brains around big words like "approximately".

Sorry if I sound harsh, I'm just tired of people freaking out over everything going exactly as announced. They have never said the game would start at 12:01 AM PST, and to my knowledge it never has. But it continues to surprise people every weekend for some reason...

Well, if you go further back than January Dreamsmith, then I believe you would find that it did used to say 12:01 without the approximately.

Regardless, it's a minor issue if a BWE is a little late. For me especially since they start at 11:00pm here and I play most of the night!

Yar, I can't imagine myself getting too much sleep on Thursday Night/Friday Morning. I'm on PST so it's ok... poor Easterners (Eastern North America).

I predict that the Beta Event will start at 1:12 AM PST.

What i do on thursday night is go to bed really early, and then wake up really early like 4 or 5 CST depending on when I go to bed so I only miss a few hours without losing a lot of sleep
