using weapon when not meeting the requirement??? - Guild Wars Forums

someone gave me a sword (11-22 damage) that's require level 11 of swordmanship but i'm only at 6. I can still equip it and use it. I notice it does a little less damage than my 7-10 sword. Just want to ask about what's really going on when using equipment when not meeting the requirement? thanks.

whenever you use something that doesnt meet the requirements, the damage done is going to act like a low level weapon of the same type.(swords/axes/hammers going to lowest damage ranges, wands/focii/staves giving low energy bonuses)
