Necros and monks get the option to replace their armor with less defense scar patterns or tatooes which give more energy. I think the first place you can see this is either Yak's Bend or somewhere in the Shiverpeaks.

Note: You will be walking around in a speedo basically, with your scarred/tatooed body showing.

The tattoo paterns for monk offer pretty average armor protection for only being ink, but thier advantage is that they increase your total energy armount. having a full set makes a noticable difference. As for the speedo look, the tattos actually look pretty badass- The dragon pattern can make you look like some hardcore monk, and the star pattern, more uniform looking, can give a good enigmatic look. If you want to sport some pants with your tattoo, that works too. Otherwise youll be sticking with a loin cloth "protecting" (or censoring) your... eh... vital organs.

You have to have these classes as primary to use these? I have an ele/nec and was wanting to get this armor. Any info in advance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes... only primaries are considered for armor and what you can wear.

YOU get elementalist armor

Also, tatoos for monks begin at Lion's Den and they do look cool, but NOT recommened to keep you alive if you get bum rushed.
