Default Compared to EQ/WOW - GW is....

Just looking for some comparison to game play, soloability vs. grouping requirement, eligibility of casual gamer to progress vs. hard core.

What's the endgame all about?

Is there good PVE at highest level that will challenge a good group/guild - or is this game geared around PVP and GVG play once you reach max level?

Thanks for consideration.

Can't compare it to EQ, but I can to WoW.

Its rather different to be honest. Level cap is 20 instead of 60. You can have two out of six classes instead of just one. You only get to use 8 skills on the playing field, instead of having 6 or 7 hot bars of skills. Each class has 4 types or groups of skills (called attributes) that can be chosen from, so you have upwards of 8skills you can choose from, but only really enough points for 3-5 of them to be good, so even if two people are Monk/Rangers, they may be completely different. With the level cap at 20, its not too bad for the casual gamer.

PvP is good, but unlike WoW where you can PvP practically anywhere, you can only PvP here in designated areas. But unlike WoW you have no gankers. You either know your characters and his skills, or your don't. So a level 15 can compete with a level 20. The level 20 will have more health and possibly more energy, but it is possible.

no matter what, people here are going to say that GW is better than WoW or EQ. Why? Because this is a GW forum, if you want to hear that WoW or EQ are better and how, then go to the WoW and EQ forums. Basically the opinions you get here will be biased.

As Ketendra said, this is a GW forum. That being said, I'll just PM you my opinion.

It depends on what you want. If you like to PvP this game is or you. If you like PvE WoW wins hands down. The great thing about this game IMO is there is no monthly fee so you can play both. If you get sick of the grind in EQ/WoW come play GW for awhile. If you get tired Tombs in GW's go back to EQ/WoW, there is no monthly fee for GW so you can come back whenever you feel like it.

Thanks for the responses -

I guess the wording of my topic was a little misleading - but I was looking for some comparisons between gameplay between the other MMORPG's -

I currently play EQ in a semi-high level guild, and am honestly getting a little tired of the grind every day of the same old thing.

Wanted something that I can play for myself, and more specifically, play with some friends that absolutely will NOT pay a monthly subscription fee for, and be able to feel like things are getting accomplished without having to play for 6 hours a day.

Thanks for the responses - sinces it free monthly, I guess I can't really go wrong.

One of Guild Wars greatest strengths is it is less time demanding than WoW. You can solo very well which means you can also take breaks more easily. (girlfriend comes in yapping...) All adventuring is done in the equivalent of a WoW instance so you don't have to worry about being ganked or competing for spawns. Of course, you also won't randomly come accross people to help and be helped by. The thrill and adrenaline driven by the threat of being ganked is not there either and that is part of what made Shadowbane exciting. All in all it is a matter of preference. Guild Wars players seem more mature than WoW players but you still see all kinds.

Actually to be the voice of contradiction, I found guild wars to be fun for a short while, then determined that it had no immersion and was more or less a simple hack and slash game. If you're accustomed to real MMoRPG's (EQ, SWG) with long leveling, numerous skills, and every zone filled with people to interact with, this is NOT a game for you. I was at level 20 half way through the PVE game, and found that it was just a matter of whacking things harder than they whack me. Ultimately, not getting new levels or skills, combine with the lack of immersion really killed this game for me. Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful game that is great if your looking for a Diablo type play style (with a little more skill required), but it is certainly not an engrossing experience.

Tell you the truth. Once I get the money and a new comp. I'm going to go get WoW. GW is just repetitive and based to much on luck for pvp. There is not much actual human interaction besides in outposts. The only thing you can do in GW is: fight, spam trade channel, fight, spam trade channel, fight, spam trade channel.

You said you didn't like grind? Well in this there is no grind, but once you beat the game the only thing left to do is pvp. Pve gets boring and repetitive very fast.

I have loathed PvP in every game I've played. Nothing bugged me more than playing Diablo II and having people say the PvP was so much better. It is beyond boring, and all people do is whine and complain about something.

PvP in the Hall of Heroes, is SO much fun though. Four teams of 8 fighting it out, my favourite. The amount of planning and strategy you'll go through is what mainly turned me to it. However, unless you're a monk, you will likely have a very hard time finding a group to play with.

The only problem though, was that it took me 70 hours of gameplay to get to this point in the game. I did spend a lot of time leveling, which I wouldn't have done if I'd known how low the levels were.

After four years of EQ and sonys crappy attitude there ain't enough money in the world to get me to play again. As for WoW if u like a game where you work for nothin everything comes easy its for you.In EQ the nec and druid are the only real solo classes. In WoW all can solo. This game has more potential than either, unfortunately AN and a lot of players have tunnel vision and that potential likely wont be realized.
