Default Necro Question

Alright

I have a 20 E/Mo, a 20 W/E, and a 20 Mo/Me, and i have never actually seen a good necromancer.

So im making one, and i was wondering, what are your opinions on the better secondary for a PvP nec? And why.

Thanks.

Well, I am of a couple opinions here. First, for PvP, Necro isn't the best way to go, but it can be done and is quite a bit of fun. We rely ALOT on corpses for death magic, and life sacrifice for blood magic. To that end, I took Monk as secondary, so I can set myself up for my life draining spells. Death magic with the undead would be difficult in PvP, but Mesmer would work, as you could work Mesmer spells while waiting for the first person to drop, and then take advantage of his corpse to wreak alot of havok.

However, it can be done quite well with Necro as a secondary. Ele/N would work great, you would have energy to spare, as Necro's drain energy quite fast. Mo/N would also work well, you would be stronger at healing therefore you could burn out quite a bit of life force in death magic. It's all in the planning. Build a few PvP and mess around. If you lose, learn from it!

Heh depends. I've mainly have a necros as secondary professions and the main issues ive had was:

1. All "fast" direct damage spells and alot of curses comes at a "sacrifice health" price. So you are 'forced' to leech your health back at an energy+time cost [given you haven't died after someone noticed you just dropped 50% of your health to cast a curse].

2. Alot of cool Necro spells requires a corpse. In PvE, its not a problem, in PvP it is a major problem imho. Even calling a minion in PvP [which are afterall related to Necros primary "statistic"] made me feel like im playing the lottery because you simply don't know when and where you are going to get that corpse from and whether you should use it on a minion or something else more damaging. [And i mean you only have 8 slots for skills, are you REALLY going to put 2+ "exploit target corpse" skills in your bar and boost the particular type of magic knowing you might never even get time to find a corpse, considering you will probably not be the only necro on the battlefield].

Based on those problems i'd think having a Monk secondary to heal yourself [so you can sacrifice it all again] might sound like something worth investigating. But in the end, the primary statistic of a necro seem so anti-PvP i simply don't know what i am missing , i would for example rather go prime Monk, boost my prime stat [which heals you and others] and THEN use my necro second to sacrifice health like a mofo. Or go prime mesmer with fast casting to combo a leech spell+sacrifice spell so fast that you regain everything before anyone can notice :P Heck even prime Elem with the whole energy storage + aura the heals whenever you cast a spell sounds more promising.

Maybe someone can enlighten me. Some say Necro is the best "support" class, and i assume it also means it is the best "to support your primary class" too [as opposed to being the primary class] :P But if i am going to "support" as in "curse" and do "slow-over-time-damage" related tasks in PvP then id rather be Mesmer with Fast Casting and Necro as second.

I have N/Me and use blood, curses and domination magic.. fun to play in arena. Works fine at warrior buster -> Enfeeble, Faintheartedness. Fast casted and dont eat too much of energy. Can do some harm to casters -> Backfire, Diversion, Power Drain/Leak/Spike, Malaise. Can help own casters -> Blood Ritual. Can help finish opponents -> Life Transfer{E}. Hard to be crippled -> Plaque Touch Real fun character imo.
