Default Clarification on Weapon Upgrade Components

Noob here, so go easy on me please.

My question was, is there a limit to how many times you can use a weapon upgrade component on a weapon? Let's say I had a sword with the suffix Enchanting (10%). I later find a component with Enchanting of 16%; would it be possible to overwrite the lower Enchanting property? And later, if I were to find a 20%, can I use that on the sword again? In the same vein, if I found a Trollslaying component that I prefer over the Enchanting, would I be able to overwrite the Enchanting with Trollslaying?

If anyone could clarify the upgrade restrictions/limits, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Many thanks in advance.

yes ... you can update modify change your upgrade components all the time. You overwrite the old one each time.

u can't stack components... lets say i have a +25 heal on a bow.. if i want to add +30 fortitude upgrade on it, it will destroy +25 so the bow will become +30. just like using runes. hope it helps...

Yes you can overwrite any upgrade componets, however, you lose the old upgrade.

Great, thanks everyone!

Yes, I assumed the previous prefix/suffix would be overwritten by the new versions.

One last question, I have a blue weapon (damage is very low however) with a prefix of Sundering +10%/10% chance (I believe this is max). I forgot where I got this, whether it be a collector or friend. I've tried using an expert salvage to get the upgrade component, however it won't let me. Would I need to first find another weapon unID'd with this property to first unlock it, before I'm able to salvage it from this weapon?

You unlock upgrades by salvaging them out of the weapon. The only reason you can't salvage something is because it's either a quest reward or a collector's item.
