Default Help With Music Video---TOO BIG FILE :(

Hey,
I've been makin a guild wars video. and i noticed how MASSIVe the file is. Its like 700mb which is REDICULOUS! Then i noticed Zacks Music Video, ( http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...light=thriller ) and his file in total is only 25 MB. I want to know how that is possible.

Heres why, he uses fraps, i use fraps. NOw, how the hell could he make a movie with that resolution thats 21mb. First off the original fraps recorded file (undedited) is already like 41mb, i want to know how he does it. Or if anyone knew what i was tlaking about. Thanks.

video encoding and audio encoding. will take your raw uncompressed video and produce a compressed copy roughly 80%-90% smaller file size.

i generally use:

video = divx, anywhere from 500-750 kb/s
audio = mpeg layer-3 24 kbit/s 24KHz mono

I use fraps too. Thing with fraps is that what it saves to file is raw avi. No encoding. So with a frame rate of 30fps you get a nice 200mb for 30 secs of video.

You need to download or get and Encoder. There are many out there in the net, wich will allow you to encode your 700mb avi with DivX or Xvid, etc. To something below 100 mb for sure. Depends on the length and the resolution and fps of the video.

The one i use is called VirtualDub, pretty good encoder.

This is the Menu path u need to follow.

Video -> Compression (Here select the codec u want, Xvid, DivX, Etc)

Press Ok.

Then File -> Save Avi as..

And put a new name.

When compressing is complete I'll say u watch it for any glitches, and then trash the big file

Edit: I havent checked this thread in some days, so if you need any more info, Pm me.. its faster.

On a side note, you can get the WMP 9 Encoder for free to convert both video and sound to WMV and WMA respectively. This is just an alternative....
