Default Dodging doppelganger's arrows

Is it still possible to dodge the doppelganger's arrows?

I'm trying to kill him with a low level mesmer using Backfire and Empathy and [trying to] dodge his arrows using strafe keys Q and E however it doesn't seem to work; I haven't been able to dodge a single attack; even if the arrow lands 2 yards away from me, it's still going to damage me..

Strafing is using the Q and E keys to sidestep. From my experience, it works best when you stand well to one side (giving yourself room to maneuver), and then as soon as you hear the arrow loose from the string you strafe and don't stop until the arrow misses. Then stop, and repeat the process in the other direction.

It took me a while to get it to work at first, so don't get too discouraged. Once you get the hang of it, it's relatively easy to do.

Unless they changed it recently, you can be basically immune to his arrows by hammering your strafe keys really fast, like you were playing Track & Field or something.

That's never worked for me, actually. I seem to have much better luck trying to time the strafing than just mashing the strafe keys.
