Default Why is it hard to a Ranger to get in a farm party?

Title says it... I'm a ranger and i haven't seen any Ranger call for (in 5-6 ppl small farmings) farming in SF. I wonder why ?

Searched for a thread but find nothing

because, in popular opinion, rangers are useless.

they can't tank as well as a warrior, and they supposedly can't deal as much damage as an axe warrior.

they can't interrupt as well as a mesmer, and the obviously can't heal.

because small farming parties want 1 tank, 2 monks, and 1-2 nukers.

All of which is, of course, wrong. A ranger is a great thing to have around in a party, but people are shortsighted, and often a bit dumb.

Just decide what YOU want and make the parties.

I always want one of my guildies to be Ranger, for their interupts, barrage AOE and ranged attack.

My party always looks like this:

1Nec/Mo (me): Minion Master w/e BiP & Mark of Pain (30dmg to all)
1Ranger (guildie): Barrage, Ignite and whatever else he/she chooses
2Mo (1 prot/1heal)
1 E/Mes: obvious skill choices here
1 War/?: stances being primary need for SF, maybe a few attack skills just so that its not entirely boring to the player. Ele secondary isn't a bad choice here because of the Wards but w/e.

Warrior calls target and draws all agro, I hit that target with MoP, Ranger targets with barrage/Ingnite and of course my lil minions are just spittin away. Add to that the ele raining down fire and all I see are -30-30-12-30-11-30-30-30-30-13-30-30-30 etc. across my screen<--the smaller #'s being my wand dmg or minions melee dmg while the 30's are hitting every mob in that group everytime target gets hit..........mobs drop in mere seconds. Saves monks energy, eles energy/exhaustion and gives me lots n lots of bodies to raise from.

Oviously some players don't understand the importance of the Rangers role.
Our Interruption skills alone are worth their weight.

I agree with ya. But how can we make theese guys believe they need rangers in farm parties. I have W/N and R/E both LvL 20 and I can always get a farming party with W/N but can't get one with R/E. And I love playing with R. It's really funny.

Don't forget that Barrage removes all preparations...

My ranger can deal alot of damage using the following:

1.quick shot
2.ingite arrows
3.applt poison
4.poison elite/barrage
5.whirling defense
6.dabiltating shot
7.serpents quikness
8.troll ungent

AOE AND POISON ican lay down alot of damage, poison sucks life for 12 secs,!! Very nice just hit everyone once with poison then hit em with barrage or ignite arrows lots of damage!!

I Know how you feel I'm a W/R and sometimes I get into parties and they get mad at me because I'm not at the front acting as a meat shield. well I'm not using any of my warrior skills anymore because once I got past the southern shiverpeaks I die way too easily. maybe it's my builds or whatever but it sucks trying to fight lava imps when you have a 60%dp because nobody will keep you alive. when I'm in battle I rely on the monks to heal me because the healing sig takes too long and its easily interrupted so i'm screwed if the monk isn't doing his job.

I use Bows exclusively now and I take nothing but ranger skills with me which has worked out very nicely. ignite and poison arrows are awesome skills as well as the traps I have. plus someone said earlier that rangers don't heal thats not true because I use healing spring quite often which is a very nice healing skill with an area effect and I use troll ungent which will neutralize any poison or hex/curse I have on me plus most times put me in a positive health regen.

You've got that right! A good ranger or two is great to have in the Shiverpeaks to keep those darn Beastmasters from using Giant Stomp.

I have to agree the ranger is a excellent thing to have. I have played the meat shield with first charactor and yes you are MEAT. and yes youdo damage up the ying yang, However I have been playing 2nd char R/Me and let me tell you death from a distance can be a great thing. 3 reasons of the top of my head 1, IF god forbid the meat dies and the healers are swarmed. I can run back off till the smoke clears and res a healer or two.
2, umm ya AoE. nuff said
3, ranger chics when created right are the sexiest characters in the game can you say EYE CANDY .

just my 2 cents worth.
Rangers the great underdogs that are over looked.

P.S hated rangers till I played one

did you just make that up in your head?
you have 2 elites. 2 preps. 2 stances, 1 energy denial, 1 self heal.

a barage ranger can be really strong for farming. use a conjure, or favorable winds, and a IAS and you can spam barrage every 1.33 secs. ~20 to rangers and warriors, 40+ for anything else

Mesmer's are terrible at interrupting. All mesmer interrupts are are nukes and energy management that happen to have a bonus effect. Rangers on the other hand can completely shut an ele monster down with interrupts, and wreak havoc on monks AND their interrupts (half of 'em at least) work on non caster skills.

I think the problem is too many rangers try and make play damage oriented builds in pve, and in doing so make themselves useless, since even mesmers can put out more dps on high lvl/high armor monsters. Maybe ranger dmg in pvp makes people think it will be good in pve as well.

The thing is, as said in a previous post, that people want 1 tank 2 monks 1-2 nukers.

Its just that they can do it without a ranger so why split the drops even more.

If you can regularly use this build, I recomment it. Simply because it uses two elite skills. And thats just pro.
