Thumbs down Guild Wars: Faction Collectors Edition Delayed...

... in Australia. EB Games rang me today to tell me the Collectors Edition was delayed for 1 whole week due to shipping problems (they offered me to swap to the normal edition but of course I declined their offer). My question is are others having the same problem in Australian and quite possibly around the globe? If so is it wise to ask ANet for support on this matter, cause that means I will be a whole week late!

BTW I hope I have posted in the right place (don't know of any other area that would fit this posting. Also I hope it isn't a repost (merge if it is) cause I am about to rush out the door to vent my anger in a game of indoor soccer .

Regards

...in the U.S.

I received an email from EBgames.com that said this:

Quote:
Dear Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition Customer,

We have received word from the publisher NCSoft that Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition has been delayed beyond the April 28th launch of Guild Wars Factions. At this time, we do not have an ETA for the Collector's Edition, although the regular edition is still scheduled to ship on time. This delay affects all US retailers. You have the following options available to you:

1)Keep your Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition order as is. No action on your part is required; we will ship you Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition as soon as it is available from NCSoft. We currently have our release date set at May 4th, 2006 but THIS IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

2)Exchange your order for Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition with Guild Wars Factions Regular Edition. To do this you must do the following:
-Reply to this email by tomorrow, Wednesday April 26th at 6pm CST.
-When replying, copy and paste this text into the subject line: EXCHANGE GWFCE
-Your Collector's Edition order will be canceled and you will receive the regular edition at $49.99, plus tax and shipping.

3)Cancel your order for Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition. To do this you must do the following:
-Reply to this email by Friday, April 28th at 6pm CST.
-When replying, copy and paste this text into the subject line: CANCEL GWFCE
-You will receive email confirmation once your order is cancelled.

We realize this is very disappointing, but if you opt to keep your Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition order, we will notify you via email again as soon as we have a firm release date from NCSoft.

Sincerely,
GameStop.com/EBgames.com Customer Service
I'm going to wait for it, though. I don't play GW as much as I'd like to, so I can wait a few extra days.

At least you got an e-mail, gamestop.com hasn't sent me anything. I checked online (which showed 5/4) and then called them and the girl at first didn't want to check on anything then she said that some were to start shipping tomorrow. She didn't say if it was the collectors edition or not but she did say depending on when it was ordered, it would be shipped.

Wow... its a global delay! ANet should extend the period to at least the 10th of May 2006 for all those with preorder keys. Not very fair for pre orderer's to wait for the game when they did the right thing and supported ANet by commiting to buy the game as soon as it came out. So now people who didn't pre order get to play first for longer (Pre order will still play first though ), does that sound fair?

I hope someone from ANet reads this and actually forwards it to someone who can do something.

Regards

Cant do much this late in the game.

If the things arent in the warehouses being loaded on trucks - they cant make them magically appear there.

Remember Theres like 48 hours before you expect to have the game lol.

They can plan for things like this though... every good business has contingency plans. They can do something about it... if they can extend the period of the character slots being there 7 days, they (being ANet) can extend the period where pre-orders can access Faction content till their boxes arrive. It doesn't hurt them one bit cause pre-orders are just that pretty much sold, so they don't lose revenue one bit.

Just got that email too......so we get to play for a week then we are cut off? Yeah, that's the way to make people happy. So do we know if they will extend the pre-order key for those who ordered the collectors edition??????? This is how they treat those people who paid extra for that edition, not sure I am happy about this.....................

Its seems it isn't a shipping delay... as per the update notes... they mentioned they didn't make enough CE. They make them but shipping takes time. So instead of having them ready to sell they were making them and shipping them out too close to the release date.

It seems global...
