Default How about more fun and less anger?

I have recently been trying to get 10k faction for kurzick in fort aspenwood. When i started i didnt know about amber and how to repair gates etc so i just killed stuff and didnt help my team to the full extent. Now that ive played a lot i now realise all the aspects of it and try my best to help the team. It seems however no one ever appreciates this.
I ran amber and kept our gates up most of the game and got moaned at for not killing stuff. I changed to deffend more and got moaned at that the gates wherent up. I tried to do both and it gets very difficult and as far as im concerened i help less doing this. Ive gone back to running amber yet im still getting a lot of insults and abuse. If we lose both mines and i ask that we try and take one back i get shouted down with insults about being a noob and that amber doesnt matter we need to stay back. Surely not letting them inside in the first place is a very effective form of deffence?
Are people just generally angry and always think they know best? When did the game stop being about people playing a game for fun and become so serious?

Because people will be people. Selfish, mean, arrogant, abusive and conniving... that is human nature =D sorry !!

I did Aspenwood a lot when i first played through Factions and it was the same situation. The fact remains if people arent winning they will blame anything and everyone for the problems/mistakes that led to failure... because its never one's own fault, right?! LOL !!! My advice, play as you wish, or have a whole bunch of friends enter mission at the same time, so maybe you'll get a few on your team and that hopefully means less anger...?

welcome to PUGs my friend. (Pick Up Groups)

I havent got to your point yet, but im relating to other experiences i had with PUGs. in some groups just WHATEVER you do will not be the right thing. normally if i have to go with a PUG before we go in i specify what i am expected to do. and thats what i do.

if i hear complaining i say: "dude! this is what i asked and this is what was answered on team chat. if you got a problem with it not being done either ask nicely or go do it yourself."

normally this works and the complaining stops, because nobody wants to look stupid. but i still prefer doing ONLY with guildies and friends anything more complicated then just going from point A to point B and killing everything on the way.

thats the problem with online games. if somebody doesnt get the point of team work, that person expects everything just being done perfect.

It comes from people taking make believe characters in a make believe world way too seriously. Truth told, we're all prone to get a little bent out of shape over it at times.

Yes I agree, it seems to be getting worse too. I have played since near release of Ch1 and it bothers the hell out of me to see ppl thinking they are so elite. I don't have a problem with people being good players but when they run around calling others noobs because they have a different idea . It bothers me and really degrades my game experience to see it. Maybe its because school is out in some places and we are getting an overflow of kids.

If you think pugs in aspenwood have a problem with angermanagement, go and join a pug in heroes ascent. Especially rank 6/9+ pugs are notorious for flaming ppl. And then you're on ts/vent, I won't even mention the things which are said there sometimes, I presume you all can imagine how a flamefest goes on ts/vent.

It seems some people just get impatient and want immediate satisfaction when they really aren't having fun with the game anymore. I know it's human nature. Sometimes I find myself whispering to the screen "get your f***ing minions out of my way!" when I'm trying to run to a spot. But I'm not gonna actually type that in the chat window to the fellow Necro on our team. It's just a minor annoyance that's really not a problem. But some people will actually type stupid stuff like that.

Like when pets in the Tombs are dead, you'll see people type "Pet - (name) is dead!" to remind the owner to rez it. Well sometimes I see people saying my pet is dead right when it dies, in the middle of a battle, repeatedly until I rez it. Of course they seem to forget that all my skills are disabled for an amount of time when my pet dies. They may just want to look like they know what they're doing.

And when people quit on a team just because something bad happens soon or one person died. There's one person who I've seen quit multiple times early in Tomb runs after insulting the team(and the monk especially, poor monks). Just because a couple people die. I won't say the person's name, but I swear he/she must be the most impatient, rude, and biggest quitter of the Tomb of Primeval Kings. Last time he quit, we finished all the way through anyways. When you come across a mean quitter who puts the team down, just remember he/she is the quitter, not you.

If someone is shouting orders, follow those orders and don't question them.

This does several things:
- One guy is leading the chaos. That means there's some coordination.
- If the team follows the orders then there's a good chance those objectives get completed.

People in GW are usually too afraid to take control or they are too eager to take control of a situation.


- "OMG WE're doomed! Lets just give up" <---ignore this guy, bad morale
- "KILL THE EFFING TURTLE FFS OMFG" <--- ignore this guy too, spring of frustration
- "Warriors spike turtle, numbers 4-7 go orange,
REST REPAIR PURPLE" <--don't question, just do


I still think GW should get macors or something like that



Imo, those random missions...
If kurzick only defends by killing stuff then kurzick will lose.
Luxons usually have more monks.
Add to that the artillery turtles, the hammer warrior npc SWAT squad and the uberclose spawnarea for luxons and you're fighting a lost battle.

Kurzicks are simply outnumbered (the npc defenders get nuked by turtles, the juggers are too slow).
If you'd crunch the numbers you'd probably get to an equivalent of 24vs8.

But try explaining all that while the fight is going on...

Better to just shout orders and spam your "I'm wielding a sundering fellblade of fortitude and an eternal shield" to impress the noobs.
You don't even need to have those items, just type it X.x

In favor of random groups I must say I never found a PUGs that was abusive, all the players were, friendly, helpfull and polite! I must point out that I only play PvE not PvP or GvG.

Yes... Its sad but true... I think it started with this whole must get faction or else attitude...

SO I JUST PLAY FOR FUN ANYWAYS AND GIVES THE FINGER TO JERKS WHO THINK THEY KNOW BEST.

I am soooo happy that its a random arena play style in thoes missions and not team picking. Too much pvp attitude in PvE lately.

sorry, but there is someone there about 60% of the time that whines and gives absolutely dumb orders, which make no sense. when u start to lose bad, he/she just whines and bitches some more, blaming the team for his shitty ideas..

More and more monks have forgotten how to heal, and more low lvls join the pugs. Sure I'm angry and frustrated, that is why people invented online play. It is some sort of anger management

Thing is, if I want to take out my anger, I think it's better in a game like Grand Theft Auto rather than other people in GW.

I think a major solution to all this would be to somehow implement a party-based voice chat system, much like say Counter Strike. Not everyone HAS to, and the options to turn it off should def be there, but especially with the neccesity of heavy coordination in the FA or JQ(lol), it would make games definitely more intense. I have worked with and played against kurz groups that have their shite together and will whip a luxon team, even more so if hte luxon team is not working together at all. Add an ingame voicechat and things will liven up a little. And for GODS SAKE, MAKE 12v12 REAL 12v12 again, its so frustrating! Not even in game teamchat would help that situation much!

Ingame VC was what i have been looking forward to since i started this game a year ago, I would LOVE to see this implemented somehow. It is definitely something worth more than a lot of other complaints out here and I think the dynamics of the game would change considerably (with some setbacks, but like I said, it can be mutable) with the ability to coordinate voice with vision (the map drawing/pinging is still one of the best ideas ever IMHO)

So, to make this all relevant, give us the ability to quickly voice chat with PUGs or anything without having to use third party programs, and the efficiency of certain missions/areas/general gameplay will go up without the need to make major tweaks in the game itself. Def not problem solved, but i bet it will help.

tell me about quiters and asholes!

today, while taking my warior through Tyria, i come to Dragon Lair misison. we manage to put a group together. 3 wariors, 2 nuker, 1 ranger, MM, monk+helaer henchman.

i wont be repeating the story, but at land #3 we were 4: me, ranger, nuker, henchman.

and all because mr monk turnd out to be a smitter, and quit. then 1 tank got his skill cap and also quit.

i swear, they should have a Quitter title, that you cant just hide.
like, u got 50 times to map out of missions, but then after you hit 50 more times leaves u get a leaver title. lets apply this to only Missions, and not count it when you are in a full party of henmchman

would probably make it better.

I've thought of ideas like that. If someone's internet connection gets cut off, I can understand. But if they actually click the log out button or close the GW window, then it's intentional. If someone maps out and leaves the party, obviously that's intentional.

I wouldn't want someone penalized if they really have to go or it's an emergency. But maybe when people leave a party, they forfeit their share of gold and it gets distributed among the remaining players. Arenanet can at least do that.

If someone dies, I think all items reserved for that person should stay reserved. And the time limit until the reservation is removed is reset if and when that person is ressurected. That way if someone gets a Glob or Black Dye drop and dies, the other gamers can't just wait til the reservation is gone, then pick up the item and cheat the gamer whose character died. It would be nice if a death locks reservation on drops not picked up.

What would be nice is if you're in a party in an explorable area and you could call someone over. If there's a spot available in the party, you sent the person an invite. And if the person accepts, he/she is zoned to the starting point of where the party started rather than where the party is at the moment. That way in a logical sense, it's like a character came by and has to catch up with the party.

If a full party gets one quitter, another member could even leave and map to the outpost and look for one person. Then invite the person, then accept the invite from the party in the quest or mission and the two travel to catch up with the group. Of course, they'd have to fix it so people can't use this to cheat their way out of death penalty one person at a time.

That kind of people is what keeps me away from pvp, id love to see one of those kids say some of that kind of crap for me in person, id pvp him for real, its easy to have some gay sterical atak while youre tanking a kilometer away from monk and want to be healer from him, people just want to have bots in pvp, some ppl with the guildwarsguru build and mechanical gameplay, swollow dude, not everyone want to take your orders, its a group, some dont want to lead and dont want to follow too, there must be a strategy not someone on middle of battle tryin to teach noobs how to do it, and if people just dont let them try the mission they will never learn, not everyone have 24 hours pvp time.

This might be a problem. My necro and ele have mapped out of Dunes of Despair at the 3 minute mark about 20 times in the last week. I didn't do it for kicks, get into a bad group, or have a life emergency. I was helping with the bonus. What I do with the ele is slap life barrier, bond, watchful spirit, and mending on the ghost. The necro, along with everyone else, kills the 4 groups of forgotten and the 2 enchanted bows at the south gate. Then proceed to the bonus area and kill the 3 bosses. When we finish the bonus, all six of us map out.

I would love to know who the quitters are too, however there needs to be a way to separate the rage quitters from the people that aren't.
